Although many young people are forgetting he was a genius for any time and named his daughter Moon Unit and son Dweezle he is the one behind that famous quote. ” A mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work if it’s not open.”
Never got to see Frank, or SRV.
My older brother turned me on to Zappa in the early 80’s.
Heard music playing in accessories, working at Musicland Group (formerly K-Tel Records) in Hopkins, MN. in 84., 2nd shift. Like Eric Clapton said “Before the end of the day I have to find out who this is!”
It was Stevie!
I found blues, and jazz, and said “Eff dude’s with poofy hair, and lip stick. (laughing)
Mr. Zappa did conducted a few orchestras. Which you probably know….
He got back together with the Mothers for that tour. I saw him in Mormonville (SLC), and the only way they’d let him play was if he promised not to do ‘Titties & Beer’. Guess what? 🙂
I did know about the LSO gigs, but only because I just watched ‘Eat That Question’.
Interesting doc, but far less of his conspiracy side in it than I expected.

Thank you #1! 🙂
And back at ya:
Hands-down my favorite Zappa song, Hal. Had the good fortune to catch him live in the mid-seventies.
Best guitarist I’ve ever seen… and I’ve seen a few.
Never got to see Frank, or SRV.

That’s funny.
I seriously thought about posting ‘Titties & Beer’, or ‘The Boogerman’ instead of The Central Scrutinizer . lol
His description of himself as ‘t.v.’ is unparalleled, imo. 🙂
I just had an idea of posting a video comment on a post a few days ago about RECORD STD’s.
(LAUGHING!)
iT’S GONNA BE BIG.
Thanks Frank
