Kidnapped Woman Escapes from Texas Border Stash House

DONNA, Texas — Authorities are looking into the kidnappers of a woman, who managed to get away from her captors, north of the Texas border.

Shortly after 2:15 p.m. individuals driving along Farm-to-Market Road 493 spotted a woman waiving for help, said Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Spokesman JP Rodriguez.

The woman, described as being in her 50’s, had duct tape around her face and claimed to have been kidnapped by unknown men earlier in the day from McAllen.

The woman told investigators that she was taken to a house south of Donna, Texas. Where she managed to escape hours later, Rodriguez said, adding that they took her to a local hospital because she had various injuries to her face.

Members of the sheriff’s tactical unit rushed to the address where the woman had been kept which is less than three miles north of the Donna Rio Bravo International Bridge.

Deputies were not able to find any suspects inside the house and have now turned the case to McAllen Police since the initial crime took place in their jurisdiction.

South Texas has seen its share of high profile kidnappings in recent years. In September 2012, three men whisked a student from the University of Texas Pan-Am campus as she walked out of class. During the trial of one of the kidnappers, it was revealed that they had sought to get ransom money from her father who was a wealthy businessman from Reynosa, Texas. Testimony also showed that the girl’s father sold liquor and cigarettes for the Gulf Cartel through his convenience store chain. The victim, Ana Elizondo was released without harm and now routinely speaks at security forums about her ordeal.

In May 2011, a squad of Gulf Cartel gunmen, looking to recover a stolen cocaine load, kidnapped and tortured a man in Mission who was then taken to Mexico and never heard from again. Time proved that the gunmen had taken the intended target’s cousin who was not involved in criminal activity. The gunmen are expected to face trial later this year.

  1. “Testimony also showed that the girl’s father sold liquor and cigarettes for the Gulf Cartel through his convenience store chain.”

Okay…so he’s in cahoots with one of the drug cartels; I don’t care what happens to his daughter, or the rest of his family. You’ll reap what you sow.

This guy is profiting from the invasion. I hope his head gets hacked off.
