New Published Study Verifies Andrew Wakefield’s Research on Autism – Again

Two landmark events – a government concession in the US Vaccine Court, and a groundbreaking scientific paper – confirm that physician, scientist, and Autism Media Channel [AMC] Director, Dr. Andrew Wakefield, and the parents were right all along.

In a recently published December 13, 2012 vaccine court ruling, hundreds of thousands of dollars were awarded to Ryan Mojabi, [i] whose parents described how “MMR vaccinations,” caused a “severe and debilitating injury to his brain, diagnosed as Autism Spectrum Disorder (‘ASD’).”

Later the same month, the government suffered a second major defeat when young Emily Moller from Houston won compensation following vaccine-related brain injury that, once again, involved MMR and resulted in autism. The cases follow similar successful petitions in the Italian and US courts (including Hannah Poling [ii], Bailey Banks [iii], Misty Hyatt [iv], Kienan Freeman [v], Valentino Bocca [vi], and Julia Grimes [vii]) in which the governments conceded or the court ruled that vaccines had caused brain injury. In turn, this injury led to an ASD diagnosis. MMR vaccine was the common denominator in these cases.

And today, scientists and physicians from Wake Forest University, New York, and Venezuela, reported findings that not only confirm the presence of intestinal disease in children with autism and intestinal symptoms, but also indicate that this disease may be novel. [viii] Using sophisticated laboratory methods Dr. Steve Walker and his colleagues endorsed Wakefield’s original findings by showing molecular changes in the children’s intestinal tissues that were highly distinctive and clearly abnormal.

From 1998 Dr. Wakefield discovered and reported intestinal disease in children with autism. [ix] Based upon the medical histories of the children he linked their disease and their autistic regression to the Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR vaccine). He has since been subjected to relentless personal and professional attacks in the media, and from governments, doctors and the pharmaceutical industry. In the wake of demonstrably false and highly damaging allegations of scientific fraud by British journalist Brian Deer and the British Medical Journal, Dr. Wakefield is pursuing defamation proceedings against them in Texas. While repeated studies from around the world confirmed Wakefield’s bowel disease in autistic children [xi] and his position that safety studies of the MMR are inadequate, [xii] Dr. Wakefield ’s career has been destroyed by false allegations.  Despite this he continues to work tirelessly to help solve the autism catastrophe.

The incidence of autism has rocketed to a risk of around 1 in 25 for children born today. Mean while governments, absent any explanation and fearing loss of public trust, continue to deny the vaccine autism connection despite the concessions in vaccine court.

Speaking from his home in Austin, Texas, Dr. Wakefield said,

There can be very little doubt that vaccines can and do cause autism. In these children, the evidence for a n adverse reaction involving brain injury following the MMR that progresses to an autism diagnosis is compelling. It’s now a question of the body count. The parents’ story was right all along. Governments must stop playing with words while children continue to be damaged . My hope is that recognition of the intestinal disease in these children will lead to the relief of their suffering. This is long , long overdue .”

  1. My kids’ pediatrician continues to push for their vaccinations. I continue to push back. When the amount of informed parents finally reaches critical mass there is going to be literal hell to pay for doctors’ complicity in this crime against our children. There’s no excuse for me to be so much better educated than a doctor or nurse on this subject, but thank god I have been.

What is really frustrating is the recent hysteria being promoted by the hate-bandwagon bullies (from Salon and AlterNet) who are coming out in droves against Jenny McCarthy’s recent hire by a television talk show. Calling her views “dangerous” and “anti-science” with “deadly consequences” etc. and how she cites “a now withdrawn and scientifically disproved paper that claimed there was a link between vaccines and autism,” referring to the 1998 paper from Dr Wakefield.

    None of their claims can be backed up with one single scientific source, except from industry funded research, which cannot counted as ‘science’ due to it’s inherent conflict of interest.     But it is amazing how the basis for their campaign against advocates for safer vaccines, is based on these 3 simple lies about Dr Wakefield that first originated from a Rupert Murdoch publication, and are still circulating throughout most the world’s media without any attempts from anyone to correct them:

    What the public is most unaware of in this Wakefield/vaccines/autism controversy is that nowhere can anyone find in that 1998 paper one single statement about vaccines and autism, except in the conclusion where Dr Wakefield clearly states that there was NO CAUSAL LINK FOUND between vaccines and autism!! So how can that 1998 paper be guilty of “fabricating a link between vaccines and autism” if its conclusion states the exact opposite of what it is accused of trying to fabricate?!

    In that 1998 paper, Dr Wakefield also made the suggestion for further investigation into a “possible” link between vaccines and autism, mainly because the parents of the studied children were insisting vaccines caused the autism. Dr Wakefield was literally told to retract that suggestion and his refusal to do so, on grounds that it is unscientific to retract a statement about a possibility, led to the subsequent trial which resulted in the removal of his license to practice his profession.

    The longest running GMC trial could not validate any charges to justify their removal of Dr Wakefield’s license, so they resorted to charge of an ethics violation but not against any of the ethics of 1998, but rather against ethics of a later period, which did not exist until well after 1998, well after Dr Wakefield’s paper was already published!! (Imagine that! Being busted for breaking a law that did not come to exist until well after you already “broke” it. The profit-prison industry must be salivating at the possibilities…)

    In short, Dr Wakefield had his license removed for daring to suggest further investigation into what he was careful to call a “possible link” between vaccines and autism. And yet the public is still being told that Dr Wakefield’s 1998 paper was an “attempt to falsify a link between vaccines and autism” and was “thoroughly discredited” even though, to anyone who bothers to actually read that 1998 paper or the GMC court transcript, it is plainly obvious that these are outright lies.

    This hate-bandwagon of hysteria and industry propaganda against Dr Wakefield, and all advocates for safer vaccines, must come to an end. But with all the profits there are from vaccine sales (was it $35 billion just in 2012 alone?), the truth about vaccines and autism is having one hell of a time trying to prevail over some ugly Rupert Murdoch lies about Dr Wakefield.

  3. 25 years ago I had our doctor withhold the P of DPT and she got a DT only. That was in the day of live P virus in the vaccine, causing a lot of pediatric morbidity. Because of the parents refusal, a “safer” killed virus P vaccination was developed w/o the threat of nerve/brain damages.

    I also spaced out the vaccinations for her younger sister, refusing to get the HIB and the Chicken Pox and some other add on. When she was five she did get some additional vaccinations, but I’m so glad that I postponed and did not comply.

    Thank goodness that we have documented link to vaccinations and autism, this information needs to get into every new mothers hands.

    I personally feel that the environmental triggers with pesticides, chemicals AND vaccinations may be part of the autism spectrum and many more autoimmune diseases, plus diabetes.

    I would hope that the anti-vaccination crowd also pays attention to the Toxic Substance Control Act now being “reformed” in congress. Watch for this come September, the new “reform” bill seeks to allow states to define their own dangerous chemicals and their own levels of exposure instead of today’s national ban on BPA in baby bottles started in Washington State by the Washington Toxics Coalition.

    Chemicals, vaccinations, frankenfood GMO, chemicals in our children’s and household products – it’s all part of the big picture on toxic exposure. Yes?

    1. Incorrect about the vaccine. The “P” component is “pertussis”, which is not a virus, but a bacterium. The original pertussis vaccination was not a harmful “live” preparation, but a version that contained killed, whole cell bacteria. It worked well, but adverse and somewhat sensationalistic publicity about rare “reactions” led to it being replaced by a version containing harmless pertussis antigen components (around 3-5 protein antigens from the surface of the bacterium).
