“Good Morning Britain” co-host Piers Morgan grilled 12-year-old trophy hunter Aryanna Gourdin Monday morning, comparing her killing of a giraffe to slaying her pet cat.
Gourdin, a Utah native, became the subject of heated controversy when she posted photos last week to her Facebook account of a giraffe, wildebeest and zebra she killed on an African safari.
The pre-teen trophy hunter — clearly agitated by the question — struggled to find an answer, so her father stepped in, telling Morgan he was asking a “trick question” because the giraffe was not his pet.
Regardless, the British anchor stood his ground. He said his inquiry is legitimate because he noticed a “weird situation” on Gourdin’s Facebook profile in which she has pictures of her kills as well as photos of her pet cat.
“I’m not allowed to have pets because I hunt?” Gourdin chimed in.
But Morgan remained steadfast in his line of questioning, asking the 12 year old if she would “like” if he killed her pet cat and “celebrated” it. The father again told Morgan he and his daughter “would never kill somebody’s pet,” calling the very suggestion “derogatory.”
Earlier in the interview, Gourdin told Morgan she enjoys hunting because it’s a tradition that has been in her family for many years, adding, “I really enjoy the taste of the meat we kill.”
The young hunter, who has been called a “murderer,” said she has received several death threats since posting photos of her kills to social media last week. She told the “Good Morning Britain” host it’s “upsetting” to see some value animals’ lives over people’s lives.
“I try to ignore most of the comments I get but I do read some by accident. I just try to not let them get to me,” she said. “It won’t stop me from hunting. I will always hunt. It’s something that thousands of people do and it’s never going to stop.”
Gourdin has been hunting with her father since she was seven years old. Her father told Morgan the meat from the giraffe they killed will go to feed several hundred orphans in the local area.

I have a feeling that if he killed her cat, he’d end up eating a bullet. He certainly would if he killed my cat.
Piers Morgan is a consummate jackass. Why doesn’t he ask questions like that of anyone who isn’t a vegan? For that matter, does Piers eat meat or wear leather shoes?
Anyone who uses animal products is ultimately responsible for the death of animals. What’s more, animals killed by (responsible, ethical) hunters typically die more humanely than animals farmed for commercial purposes (or even animals that die natural deaths).
That said, I don’t believe animals should ever be killed solely for pleasure, with no other purpose in mind. That’s sick in my book. And even when they’re killed for food or some other purpose, it should be done as humanely as possible. Empathy for the innocent and helpless is what separates a human being from a monster.
I’d say if I were her , that he might want to think about what her options are for him at say … 700 yards and running

Comparing killing a wild animal that can be consumed (“… the meat from the giraffe they killed will go to feed several hundred orphans in the local area.”) to killing someone’s pet that CAN’T be consumed (unless you’re Asian) is the realm of MORONS, @SSWIPE!!!!!
