Road Rage Caught on Camera: Motorcyclist Kicks Sedan Before Multi-Car Crash

NBC News

A caught-on-camera road rage incident between a motorcyclist and a driver on a Southern California freeway led to a chain-reaction crash, sending an innocent person to the hospital Wednesday, authorities said.

The crash occurred before 6 a.m. on the southbound 14 Freeway near Newhall in Santa Clarita. The passenger who shot the video said he started recording when a gray sedan inadvertently cut off a passing motorcyclist.

“Words went back and forth,” he told NBC4.

The motorcyclist zooms up to the driver’s side of the sedan and kicks the side of the vehicle. The sedan veered left, pinching the biker to the center divider before it swerved and crashed into the wall, hitting and flipping a Chevy pickup truck over on its roof. The motorcyclist zooms past the collision.

The man in the truck was sent to the hospital and is expected to recover, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officials were looking for the biker and said they were investigating the crash as a road rage incident and a possible hit-and run.

“Obviously it was a road rage incident. He was kicking the vehicle. We have to get a statement, see what’s going on,” said CHP officer Josh Greengard.

The person who recorded the video immediately turned in the footage to the CHP.

“The old man who had nothing to do with it was the one that got hurt,” he said. “Hopefully by doing this, it can help him out.”

The southbound lanes of the 14 Freeway were reopened by 6:33 a.m.

  1. I’ve pulled my pistol one time on a road rager, I didn’t point it at him, but he got the idea real quick and backed off.

    1. Same here Frank. Funny how the attitude changes so immediately. That was 30 years ago. Good times… :).

  2. Does it look like the car didn’t see the biker? That is usually the case. The biker could have slowed down and let the blind guy encroach on his lane which separated from the main lanes by a double yellow line. Meaning, by law, it is not to be crossed. The car was in the wrong, especially, as it appears it was a single occupant vehicle. The car’s driver, probably could be charged with attempted murder for intentionally ramming the motorcycle. Bike riders have only a few options in such cases,(horn useless), speed up and get out of there, slow down,(usually, not a good response, you’ll die from the guy behind you) or get the drivers attention if there is not time. Rev the motor, kick the door? The driver didn’t think, (judging by the time factor), hey what’s that noise? When the guy kicked the car! He knew where he was and what the noise was, and who made it. His reaction was immediate, and it wasn’t to turn away from the biker. That tells me the car driver, got what he deserved. The truck driver should sue the cars insurance company, if the car had insurance.

Oh, and deport the bastard eventually, if it turns out he is an illegal.
Does anybody, see anything I didn’t?

  3. I get this sht all the time. Fk em. (Cars not bikes) My attitude is, I,m king, your sht. LOL

  4. I’ve seen these bikers zoom in between cars like flies.
You’re really taking a chance riding a motorcycle in the metro cities.
Unless you are in a pack of four or five…or riding in a gang like the Mongols.

Now on a side history note….

The Mongols would ride out as far as they could when being chased in battle.
When the people chasing them finally ran out of water….
The Mongols would cut their horses and drink the blood.

Then slay the forces chasing them.

    Oh yes…
    The art of war.
