If you’re like me, you have questions about the food you’re consuming – or as a general rule of thumb, you aim to be conscious & cautious of what goes into your body on the day-to-day.

What should we really consider is purchasing organic, so that we can breathe a little easier knowing our toxin intake is bare minimum but how do we really determine this? 

Well, thankfully for us we won’t have to leave it up to luck or intuition to get the proper nutrients without the unwanted chemicals some produce carries. Every year, the Environmental Working Group tests a majority of the fruits and vegetables that make up the market in order to determine which conventionally grown produce contain the most—and least—chemical pesticides and luckily – It’s that time of year again.

Released early this morning, their 2018 report has found that nearly 70 percent of produce tested was contaminated with pesticide residues.

According to the report, strawberries, spinach, and nectarines were the worst offenders for the second year in a row. The average strawberry sampled tested positive for a whopping 20 different pesticides, and spinach had 1.8 times more pesticide residue by weight than any other crop. On the other end of the spectrum, avocados and sweet corn were the cleanest crops, with less than 1 percent of samples showing any detectable pesticides.

As a side, eating organic is ideal, but if you can’t, or when you can’t, it’s great to know what to stay away from. If keeping your being in optimal shape to connect with yourself spiritually is part of your goal, eating clean and putting harmonious foods into your body is a necessary step.

  1. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again–if you have a garden anywhere, GROW ASPARAGUS! After 4 or 5 years, it just keeps on coming back without adding more seeds (it’s a perennial I take it), garden critters don’t bother it, and you can eat it raw (cut off stalk at about 8 to 12 inches as long as it is bulky enough at the bottom) or steam or grill it. Just don’t can the stuff–canned asparagusis slimy and tastes like…well, I can’t say it, but it tastes lousy. It’s a crop that keeps on giving. Grow enough of it and eventually you won’t have to worry about going hungry. If you live in a rural area, throw the seeds onto the ground and watch them sprout (not a good idea though in far west Texas…these seeds need water…lack of rain is the only X factor out here.)

  2. Migrant workers may also use the field as their toilet. Just sayin’….Tell children and watch how fast they wash extra with food preparation! On a side note Bayer bought Monsanto last week for $ 62 billion.

  3. It is my understanding that most GRAINS get a spray of glyphos to help them dehisce, or dry out to come free of the stalk for threshing/handling. This would certainly explan why over 90% of pregnant women test positive for it.

    There goes the healthy whole grains MYTH! Remember that last slice of wheat bread, box of brkfst cereal or oat granola you ate, well…….it probably had the herbicide right in it, BESIDES enough carbs to give you diabetes while making you obese from a messed up metabolism. Also, find some healthy sweeteners you like to use, like erythritol.

    But dont worry, the slave masters will always take good care of the sheep, not!

  4. makes you wonder if this is the reason so many people have digestion issues and cancers of the stomach and digestive tract

    were being POISONED
