Just listened to archive. Oh boy, I really liked the way you closed the show today, Henry. Yeah, those last two words really sum up the sentiment of the nation. Ha!!
Now… And OMG! That little story you told just past the 24 minute mark, about as a teenager, taking your pickup on a hot summer night way up high on a mountain, far into the wilderness, with a no-moon sky, “dark as the devil’s hip pocket,” and then just walking 20 paces from your truck to just stand there in the midst of it, in the great, pitch black forest darkness. Oh man, I felt the power, the primordial power. The REAL world. The REALLY REAL world. It went through me like a truth arrow, into every cell, and I was there with you and your friend in the darkest dark, and the world was achingly beautiful and beautifully dangerous. And we know now, all the more, what they have done to it, they and their crippled, putrid offering they call “civilization.”
Thank you, Henry. It was a kind of vision quest with a guide helping me understand what I can learn standin’ in the dark, high up on a mountain, on a moonless night. Chilling. And one day I must absolutely try it.
