  1. Leanred this years ago but with lines, not circles. Two lines have the same length, but one line has a V shape headed upwards at the top and headed downwards at the bottom while the other has a V shape downwards at the top and upwards at the bottom. Since the upwards V shape at the top and downwards at the bottom is “supposed” to make the line look longer while the other configuration is “supposed” to make the line look shorter, at this class lecture most said the line with the upwards V shape at top and downwards v shape at bottom was longer. When in fact they were the same length…I did the math, so I got it correct (plus I figured it was a manipulation, with “the math” knowing it was). When teaching HS math, I did the same classowrk with my geometry students, and most got it correct, both lines equal. But the circle video was is more interesing….

  2. The color of the circles are what cause them to appear different. The blue one advances and the other one recedes. Regardless, his point is correct.

    1. Absolutely brother.
There is a series called Brain Games that makes this guy’s presentation look like the simple bullshit it is.
I don’t know which one of them said it, but it is the color contrast, something brighter and something darker against a dark backdrop. That is what I saw immediately and it didn’t fool me one tiny bit.
Now Brain Games have completely blown my mind on more than one occasion. I highly recommend it to those who want to understand how true deception works.

      1. I’ll have to check that out.
Also, anyone reading this, and doesn’t know much about it should get into some psychology books.
        Knowledgeable good to know stuff.
