White House Wants Chinese-Style ID System For Internet Users

Infowars – by Paul Joseph Watson

Testing is set to begin next month on a pilot program that could lead to the introduction of a Chinese-style ID system for Internet users, an “identity ecosystem” that critics fear would create a backdoor to government regulation of the world wide web.

The White House’s “National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace” would replace the current system of using passwords to access sensitive online accounts with something akin to a biometric ID card that would link one individual to all their government services, such as food stamps, welfare as well as a myriad of other things like mortgage applications and applications for licenses.

“The original proposal was quick to point out that this isn’t a federally mandated national ID. But if successful, it could pave the way for an interoperable authentication protocol that works for any website, from your Facebook account to your health insurance company,” writes Meghan Neal, warning that the proposal is “a scary can of worms to open”.

The scope of the program could eventually be expanded into an ID card to access the Internet itself, greasing the skids for every citizen to require government permission to use the world wide web, a privilege that could be denied to criminals, accused terrorists and other undesirables, which according to federal government literature includes people who hold certain anti-establishment political beliefs.

The program bears more than a passing resemblance to a 2007 proposal by China that threatened to force bloggers to register their real identities and personal details via a single centralized ID system as a means for the Communist government to control information and punish dissenters.

That idea was scrapped for being too draconian, but the Obama administration is pushing ahead with its own Internet ID system in pursuit of a wider cybersecurity agenda that Senator Joe Lieberman publicly stated back in 2010 is aimed at mimicking Chinese-style censorship of the world wide web.

Back when the NSTIC plan was first introduced, CNet’s Declan McCullagh noted that it represented “the virtual equivalent of a national ID card” because it would eventually be mandatory for filing IRS tax returns, applying for benefits or renewing licenses.

The notion of the US government being able to provide a secure “identity ecosystem” immune from hacking and data theft is also naive given previous instances of information being stolen. The train wreck that was the launch of the Obamacare website is also a very strong argument for the government to stay out of such programs.

Yea, I remember that proposal when I was living in China. That definitely didn’t go too well with the people. Local Internet cafes/bars refused to go along with it, as well.

Exactly what I was thinking. If hackers can gain access all your information already when your usernames and passwords are different on each site, then it will be a walk in the park for them if it is all under ONE single username and password. It’ll be like Christmas for them.

So only a psychotic fool would advocate such a thing, and that’s exactly what we have in our government right now. Sick, psychotic fools!

It makes no sense whatsoever to have it, other than giving control of your information under a centralized system to the government. The government doesn’t give two shits if your information was hacked as long as they have it already. So how does ANY of this protect the people’s information and makes it more secure?

    ANSWER: IT ABSOLUTELY DOESN’T!

  2. “…permission to use the world wide web, a privilege that could be denied to criminals, accused terrorists and other undesirables…”

Excuse me… but didn’t my tax dollars pay for the world wide web? Why does our government believe it has the authority to grant or deny anyone permission to use it? Why is the use of something that’s owned by American nationals a “privilege” that we’re being granted by an illegal government?

let me say something right now to all retailers, utilities, and banking institutions. I’m NOT going to submit to any “internet ID”, so that means no more buying your products on line, all bills will be paid by snail mail, and I’ll be checking my bank balances by telephone call, or by taking up your teller’s time at the bank.

  3. The first time I heard rumours of an internet ID card, was out of the mouth of Kaspersky, (the author of Kasper) anyway, he was one sick puppy then, and one sick puppy now — even if he does make good antivirus. (which I won’t buy because of his retarded geopolitics/Internet ID card crap.)

I already don’t like Amazon (spies) and Paypal (ngo funding behind Ukraine)
I am barely holding these accounts open, because I am a tech and I support other people. But you know what? (I’ll leave it blank a 404 error if you will) You already know where I am headed if they (Treasonous oath breaking scum in the whitehouse) pull this.

The US Government can not be trusted with data. They’ll exploit it.

Another reason, I will NEVER sign up for that obamacare.

I told Feinstein about these technical problems before they opened that crap up so that bitch knows but doesn’t care. She’s just a oath breaking piece of treasonous crap and if it comes to it we’ll fight mortally over it.

I pretty much knew our government was rogue when I got her bullet point propaganda email talking point response, with the retarded NAVIGATOR .pdf attached to my inbox — Since electronic warfare is what they want. DESTRUCTION of electronics is what these punks will get!

Grab the squid black list for .gov .mil addresses, and make special blacklists for the corrupt data exploiting piece of crap called obamacare *covered*.* and all their piece of crap sub domains. That way you won’t get even a packet from their piece of crap servers.

And if they continue with the crap. Yank the ISP, and go mesh net. Become the ISP.

Not only will I be unbanked, un-AT&T’d, I will stop getting an ID next. In fact, I wonder why anyone even bothers at all anymore, since it is this piece of information which they exploit as the target. After a new computer system in California, and then a failure of that system, I really don’t feel like waiting in the lines just the same as in the 70’s. All that money for computers, jobs, retirements, and CAFR, and still the lobby wait time at DMV looks the same as 1969! (if not worse)

US gov computer systems are being run by greedy retards that need to ALL be fired.

It’s becoming quite CLEAR to me, that getting OUT of their electronic databases, is number one defence against their tyranny, (if your data isn’t in their system–then they are screwed) however, I see how it might be tough to get EVERYONE.. e.g. “we the people” to just stop supporting the system full spectrum. But then again, if only people could think outside the liberal/progressive box for a moment, for example what’s the difference between a safe, and a bank? Well one you have NO control of, the other you have full control, but also RESPONSIBILITY for.

Liberal PARASITES don’t like being responsible for their own actions. They don’t want to dig wells for water, or learn electrical IEEE to provide electricity, they don’t want to store gold, or food or work or anything. They just want their unsustainable, mathematically impossible, utopian dreams.

These are the same people who think it’s okay to go routing through someone’s phone or laptop by the cops without probable cause or a warrant.
I am done with these retards. NO more working together. They undermine the entire foundation of this nation with every belief, and deed they take action on.

    JUST LOOK AT THE DAMAGE!
Every computer they touch is exploited now.
    All communications are insecure now.

While a mesh net won’t stop them from spying, it will take THE CONTROL OF ALL COMMUNICATIONS away from their oath breaking constitution hating asses..

  4. Sooner or later they’re going to implement this. They have no choice.

They’re losing control due to the internet.
