What does “allegiance to the United States” mean? More specifically, how do we define “the United States”? Is it the population and culture? The geographical territory? The federal government?
My allegiance is to America’s founding principles as expressed in the Bill of Rights. That’s my choice because those principles reflect my strongly-held personal beliefs.
