Before It’s News – by Native Born American
So just what would happen if there were an EMP attack within the United States? Well first of all EMP stands for Electromagnetic Pulse and it occurs after the detonation of a nuclear weapon in the lower atmosphere. If a nuclear weapon is exploded in the atmosphere… the ground area below (a very large geographical area) would be impacted by the EMP.
The EMP would essentially knock out all electricity, which would mean the following would no longer work or would go out of working order or existence very quickly.
- Air Conditioners
- Cell phones & land line phones
- Computers
- Credit cards
- Debit cards
- Dialysis Machines
- Electric furnaces
- Electric Stoves
- GPS
- Hospital Equipment operated by electricity
- Jet Airliners and many planes
- Microwave ovens
- Military guidance systems
- Most cars & trucks built after 1980
- Most hand-held devices
- Most municipal water systems and sewer plants
- Pharmaceuticals (will run out quickly)
- Refrigerators
- Stock Market
- Street lights
- Subway systems
- Televisions
- Washers & dryers
- WI-FI
- X-Ray equipment
The dangers of an EMP attack are many and widespread. The 25 items above is a short list of things that would be put out of commission after an EMP attack. But the United States would be propelled back into a time similar to the mid 1800’s. Most experts agree that the United States is vulnerable to an EMP attack and is certainly not prepared for the grave aftermath of a post EMP United States of America.
Although the subject of EMP is not a topic on the nightly news….it should be. If an EMP attack occurred would you and your family be prepared? If an EMP attack occurs, it is extremely unlikely that any help will be on its way anytime soon. Therefore you and your family will be on your own. So, there is no better time than right now to start preparing for a cataclysm that could come in the future.
This is a short but informative article! It caught, then held my attention. It brings up a couple of issues that families and all others need to address. And this IS a certainty sooner or later.
I have heard other sources say that automobiles would not be affected; they would go off initially but could be restarted. This is a key point that needs to be clarified; it is the ability to move food supplies that will decide if an emp event is horrible or completely catastrophic. In the updated version of “Red Dawn”, the North Koreans use an emp strike to cripple the U.S before they attack. If you notice, however, cars were still running.
If ya got a computer chip…its toast!! and the gas pumps are elec. so no gas anyhow…learn to ride a horse and keep the masses from eatting it!!!
I’m sure one could hand pump gas out of the ground tanks. Some McGyver would find a way.
According to Stan Deyo the Feds tested most cars on the road today and only 25% were permanently affected. All of them shut off when hit with an EMP but could be restarted again.
Key words there…”the fed” Wow you still believe anything they have to say?? Besides, there will be NO gas for the cars not effected by an EMP…
An EMP may not be a bad thing…maybe it would put a stop to the spraying….
check out over the pacific today…WOW!! It could come from the sun too, sent from god, but Im not holding my breath… http://www.cnrfc.noaa.gov/satellite/wc_fog_enh.php
looks tasty :/
there are other sources of man made EMP mate..
nukes is only the easiest way of doing it..
another way is smaller and got limited range but it works for unhardened electronics.. HERF cannon or High Energy Radio Frequency is one that anyone can build in their own kitchen for less than 2,000$US.. it can consist of something as simple as a metal hemisphere dish, high output commercial microwave magnetron and power supply, and a small inverter..
this one is portable is can do damage up to 100m or more depending on the parts used..
the other is a EMP mine or EMP bomb…
this is a lot more complicated and destructive than the HERF cannon and is omni directional while the HERF is directional.. this one can be scaled up or down to fit the needs of the user..
it is basically a large coil of wire with a capacitor bank and moving armature..
the way it works is that the capacitor bank is charged and then dumped into the coil of wire while a charge forces the copper armature through at the moment of highest magnetic saturation of the coil creating a moving short and blowing the magnetic field outward..
one of these with several million joules of capacitors and large enough coil could be as devastating as a small nuke.. the problem is this would be well into the thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars to build.. but it has no radiation signature so does not show up on detectors..
there are a few other ways to accomplish this feat also but they are very involved..
Carrington Event – 1859
Here is a little info about that lil diddy:

Time to build or buy a Faraday Cage (protects from EMP pulses.
Much of the military high tech equipment is hardened against EMP pulses.
Transformers will explode, batteries will be zapped dead as well. Even if you have protected electrons you will need to know how to procure energy.
batteries work on a chemical reaction and therefore would not be harmed unless they had electronics in them like cellphone or laptop batteries, or unless they was damaged by reverse flow from the induced voltages in the device they was in.. other than that batteries would still work.. wither or not what you wanted to power would work is a different story…
and im not to worried about a flair causing a Carrington Event.. what you have to be worried about is the reason that there were many ancient civilizations who had entire underground cities, and the reason that there are ancient ruins that the rock is vitrified (melted) takes atleast 1200*F to do that.
kind of makes one wonder why they are building seed vaults into mountains and under hundreds of feet of rock and dirt…
Not to mention all the DUMBs.
Why do they ALWAYS forget the most important thing: NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS!!
If those things aren’t up and running in 2 weeks after the power goes out, they meltdown and it’s game over for everyone. You’d think that would be on the top of the list, but I guess they don’t want to scare anyone too early. Oh well, TOO LATE!
Yeah I see a lot of other things that would be way more important to be running than my 10 year old truck..
as said above by NC.. the nuke plants to be first on the menu
but just curious , anyone know if two stroke simple engines like on dirt bikes and quads, would they still run if the ignition system was simple?
