Before It’s News – by Mort Amsel
A Washington teenager committed suicide Sunday after a local sheriff’s department published a sarcastic Facebook post about him, according to multiple reports.
The Latah County Sheriff’s Office in Idaho had posted a photo of 19-year-old Pullman, Wash., resident Andrew Cain alongside a message saying, “We have decided that Andrew Cain is no longer the Wanted Person of the Week… he is the Wanted Person of the Month of June. Congratulations!,” according to local CBS affiliate KREM-TV.
A few days later, Cain took his own life.
The kid did have 3 warrants out for his arrest supposedly but the most screwed up thing was that they were privately messaging him and harassing him saying things like if he turned himself in now they would give him a copy of the wanted poster. The sheriff apologized for their actions but also defended posting on Facebook saying that he (Andrew Cain) felt that he had to take his life over facing the consequences is tragic. The charges were driving without privileges, possession of a controlled substance and a 3rd they would not divulge.
Cops are pulling some kind of morally abuse and deranged thing just about everyday and everyday we hear about it but we do nothing about it. When people in America are sick and tired of it, of being screwed over time and again from all sides, I wouldn’t want to be here. -Mort
someone who would kill themselves over a facebook post had problems long before.
Yea b, he may have had some mental prob.s but would have he commited sucide if it wasn`t for the juvenile like actions of that sheriffs office doing this. That sheriff office should be brought up on charges. Sounds like you are justifing the sheriff offices actions on this b. . This just shows how low life that the police dept.s are.. If we did that to a cop they would seek revenge. Screw them damnedable cops and the horse they road in on, Them cops – at all levels of law enforcement – are lower than the slime from a slug, period and this is just another example of how low that is.
Yes, but does that mean it’s ok to give a suicidal person a gun or give them a ride to the edge of a cliff? Try and look for some humanity instead of excuses.
Yep, this kind of behavior by the Sheriff’s office is unprofessional.
Mental tasering. Perhaps this kid was suffering from great depression
and after public humiliation, the kill switch was pulled.
another bite out of crime…..way to go, lawman
“The charges were driving without privileges, possession of a controlled substance and a 3rd they would not divulge.”
He killed himself over that third charge because he couldn’t live with the shame of it coming out in court, or being otherwise published. It’s also probably what the cops were taunting him about.
