Alamogordo, New Mexico Police say that they have arrested three of the five people suspected of a frightening attempted home invasion that was caught on surveillance camera last week. The footage from the front porch of the home shows a woman approach the door initially and speak to the person inside before three armed men approached the door and attempted to force their way in before running away scared.
You can get a metal screened security door from Home Depot for under $100, its easy to install as far as doors go, don’t get white if you have moisture issues it will show rust. Door knobs and dead bolts can be found cheaper online.
Replace your entry door hinge and strike plate screws with quality screws long enough for two or three inches of bite into the door frame (at least one per hinge, too many can cause splitting, consider pre drilling).

I have bars on all my windows and security doors, though this is normal in Arizona some more discreet options for windows are security films and screens.
None of the security features I mentioned would stop a carpenter like myself from breaking into a hardened house in minutes, I could explain the weaknesses but I’m not making it easy for any crooks that might read this.
