A camp on top of the Antioch Amtrak station was discovered Thursday, police said, after a bystander reported seeing someone lowering a bicycle down from the station roof.

Officer Tom Lenderman, who responded to the report, found an “unsafe” rooftop camp, the Antioch Police Department wrote in a post on an official Facebook page. PANOLA COUNTY, Mississippi (WREG) — A Panola County Sheriff’s deputy has been on leave for several weeks during an investigation after he was accused of rape.

He says everything was consensual. Meanwhile, an outside agency has been brought in to look into this case.

Custom, extra-secure BlackBerry phones remain a staple of the criminal underworld, and a recent bust just illustrated this point. Motherboard has learned that the FBI arrested Vincent Ramos, the founder of the well-established phone mod seller Phantom Secure, for allegedly aiding criminal organizations that include the Sinaloa drug cartel. The company altered BlackBerry and Android devices to disable common features (including the camera and web browsing) while adding Pretty Good Privacy for encrypted conversations. A white former North Carolina police officer, who was captured on body camera video in 2017 beating and using a stun gun on an African-American man stopped for jaywalking, was the subject Thursday in a criminal arrest warrant for assault and communicating threats, the Buncombe County district attorney announced.

The warrant against Christopher Hickman was issued by Chief Magistrate D.L. Two Florida SWAT team members have been suspended from duty for responding to the shooting at a school in Parkland on Valentine’s Day without permission. The two officers headed to the school before they received orders to do so and will now face punishment.

The Florida Sun-Sentinel reported on Wednesday that two SWAT officers from the Miramar Police Department who were on duty headed to the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School when they found out a gunman had started shooting, even though they hadn’t been instructed to. A Clinton, Missouri, police officer who was gunned down Tuesday night was done so responding to the wrong address, police said.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Bill Lowe made the distinction in a news conference late Wednesday, saying police officers, including Ryan Morton, were given the wrong address by dispatchers. Upon arrival, Morton and two other officers came under fire from a suspect, entered the home and were struck by gunfire. A Tennessee woman claims a Highway Patrol trooper groped her during a traffic stop, then laid in wait near her home and pulled her over a second time just hours later, according to reports.

The White House is gearing up to request that law enforcement and security agencies be allowed to track and shoot down civilian drones, Bloomberg reported. An official told the publication that the effort has been underway for months and it involves a number of US agencies, but didn’t specify many details of the plan.

It’s possible to track, take control of or take down drones using their radio-control signals, but wiretapping rules and aviation regulations prevent law enforcement from using current tools to do so, according to the official. A 19-year-old Central Michigan University student officials accused of fatally shooting his mother and father on campus was taken into custody just after midnight Saturday after a nearly day-long manhunt.

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student Colton Haab said he was approached by CNN to ask a question at Wednesday night’s town hall but decided not to after the network gave him a “scripted question,” quashing one he wrote himself. Haab, a member of the Junior ROTC shielded students while the school was under attack from the shooter, said he was going to ask about using veterans as armed security guards. (CNN response below.)

Edmonton, CA — Two Edmonton police officers were found guilty this week for running a highly profitable steroid ring—selling anabolic steroids to fellow cops.

Edmonton Police officer Greg Lewis was tried and convicted on multiple counts of trafficking a controlled substance while he ostensibly protected the people of Edmonton.
