Up to 12 people could be infected with Ebola including five children, it was revealed today, as health officials scramble to contain the deadly virus following the first diagnosis on U.S. soil.

The family of the male sufferer, who recently arrived in Texas from Liberia, could be at risk, ABC News reported on Wednesday. EMTs who transported the patient were also deemed at risk but had received the all-clear today.

UPDATE: The Dallas-Fort Worth CBS affiliate is reporting that a patient who was being evaluated for Ebola has tested positive for the virus. According to Reuters, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed the case — the first time Ebola has been diagnosed in the United States.

In a bizarre coincidence, a fired Oklahoma City nursing home employee was arrested Friday after a co-worker reported he threatened to cut her head off.

Jacob Mugambi Muriithi, 30, is being held in the Oklahoma County jail on a terrorism complaint. His bail is set at $1 million.

James A. Traficant Jr., an iconoclastic nine-term Ohio populist in the U.S. House of Representatives who was convicted on corruption charges in 2002, becoming the second member of Congress to be expelled since the Civil War, died Sept. 27 at a hosptial in Youngstown, Ohio. He was 73.

A family spokeswoman, Heidi Hanni, confirmed his death to reporters. The former congressman was injured in a tractor accident on his farm near Greenford, Ohio, on Tuesday. A former aide told reporters in Ohio that he apparently had a heart attack while driving the tractor, which overturned inside a building and left the former congressman trapped underneath.   Continue reading “James A. Famed chef Emeril Lagasse says that it’s becoming all but impossible to be a successful restaurateur in America today. The government just gets in the way too much. Lagasse specifically singled out the current president’s policies.

CHICAGO (CBS) – Flights at both Chicago airports have been halted Friday morning, due to an apparent fire at an FAA radar facility in Aurora.

Aurora spokesman Dan Ferrelli said, at about 5:45 a.m., firefighters and police officers responded to reports of a fire in the basement of the FAA Chicago Air Route Traffic Control Center at 619 Indian Trail Road.
