A&E has made the decision to stop running new episodes of the documentary series “Live PD” in the wake of ongoing protests over the death of George Floyd. At the same time, Paramount Network has also decided to delay premiering the 33rd season of “Cops,” which was set to resume on Monday, June 8. The news, as originally reported by Variety, arrives on what would have been the 27th birthday of Breonna Taylor, whose wrongful death at the hands of police brutality on March 13 is also fueling protests. A full autopsy report on George Floyd, the man who died after being restrained by Minneapolis police last month, reveals that he was positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. The 20-page report also indicates that Floyd had fentanyl and methamphetamine in his system at the time of his death, although the drugs are not listed as the cause. Three more former Minnesota police officers will be charged in the killing of George Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man who died after an officer kneeled on his neck during an arrest.
The office of Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison plans to charge Tou Thao, Thomas Lane and J. Alexander Kueng on Wednesday with aiding and abetting Floyd’s murder, according to reporting by the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that HuffPost confirmed with a law enforcement source. The number of National Instant Criminal Background System Checks (NICS) conducted in May 2020 shattered the record for the most checks conducted in any May since the inception of background checks.

Update (1120ET): More than 18,000 National Guard troops will be assisting law enforcement authorities in 29 states, according to the head of the National Guard, adding that an additional 1,500 National Guard troops from other states will be shifted to Washington, D.C.
