The late 1980s sci-fi flick RoboCop featured a half-man, half-robotic creature that was deployed to the mean, decaying streets of Detroit in a bid to replace human police officers (and save money).

In an early scene, a full robot was being demonstrated by its corporate developers, but wound up short-circuiting and blowing away one of the executives when it malfunctioned. The fix? Just tweak some software programming and that would do it.   Continue reading “Deadly, soulless police robots coming soon to a street near you”

(COMMONDREAMSState Department spokesperson John Kirby is raising eyebrows after he released a recap of 2015 “success stories” in which he credits the United States for bringing “peace” and “security” to Syria and “stepping up” to help the country’s people at a difficult time.

“The United States and many members of the international community have stepped up to aid the Syrian people during their time of need,” wrote Kirby in his laudatory year-in-review released late last week. He went on to claim that “the United States has led the world in humanitarian aid contributions since the crisis began in 2011.”   Continue reading “US Government Is Taking Credit For Bringing Peace to Syria — and They’re Not Joking”

A new form of contagious cancer has been discovered by scientists. Not only does it mean such cancers are not as rare as originally thought, researchers say the disease can wipe out an entire species.

To date there were two known forms of transmissible cancers in nature, and this included forms of tumor spreadable between Tasmanian devils, as well as between dogs and soft-shell clams.   Continue reading “Researchers discover new form of contagious cancer”

If you have a bank account anywhere in Europe, you need to read this article.  On January 1st, 2016, a new bail-in system will go into effect for all European banks.  This new system is based on the Cyprus bank bail-ins that we witnessed a few years ago.  If you will remember, money was grabbed from anyone that had more than 100,000 euros in their bank accounts in order to bail out the banks.  Now the exact same principles that were used in Cyprus are going to apply to all of Europe.  And with the entire global financial system teetering on the brink of chaos, that is not good news for those that have large amounts of money stashed in shaky European banks.   Continue reading “January 1, 2016: The New Bank Bail-In System Goes Into Effect In Europe”

Popular memes calling for politicians to wear the logos of their corporate sponsors have circulated the internet for years, but the suggestion may soon be a reality for California legislators. In the next week, a potential ballot measure, submitted to the Office of the Attorney General in October, is expected to receive title and summary for the 2016 election, meaning its advocates will be able to collect signatures in order to secure its official place on the ballot. The proposed law would require legislators and candidates to sport the emblems of groups that donate money to their campaigns.   Continue reading “California Politicians Could Soon be Forced to Wear Logos of Top Corporate Donors”

For decades the concerns surrounding the fluoridation of our water supply have been derided as absurd. If you tried to claim that fluoride might not be an appropriate substance for maintaining dental health, you were called a quack. Or worse, if you tried to suggest that fluoridated water was actually harmful to overall human health, you were called a conspiracy theorist.   Continue reading “Experts Admit That Fluoride May Be Completely Useless”

I’d like to speak today about what political correctness is, at least in its modern version, what it is not, and what we might do to fight against it.

To begin, we need to understand that political correctness is not about being nice. It’s not simply a social issue, or a subset of the culture wars.   Continue reading “PC Is About Control, Not Etiquette”

Since the War on Drugs began in earnest under Nixon and Reagan, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) has ruined millions of lives for nonviolent, victimless behavior. The DEA’s drug crusade is not limited to the homeland either, as it also has sole responsibility for pursing international drug investigations.

After 9/11, among the many travesties of the Patriot Act was a little-known section that gave the DEA powerful new abilities, under the guise of “narco-terrorism.” The agency says that these new pursuits are promoting national security, and it uses the purported success to lobby Congress for more funding.   Continue reading “A Federal Judge Just Shamed The DEA For Fabricating Sham Cases To Justify War On Drugs”
