Oklahoma police released a video Friday from the body camera of a cop who fatally shot a suspect earlier this month.

Sen. Charles Grassley said nonprofit hospitals could be breaking the law when they sue poor patients over unpaid bills and issued a stern warning to one Missouri hospital that he hopes reverberates nationwide.
Citing a ProPublica and NPR report, Grassley, R-Iowa, sent a letter Friday to Heartland Regional Medical Center, a nonprofit hospital in St. Joseph, Missouri, that has seized the wages of thousands of lower income workers who were unable to pay their medical bills. The whole idea of community policing – so popular among cable news talking heads these days – involves actually getting involved with the community. A big part of that might be to support the residents in higher crime neighborhoods when they call the cops to ask for help. Sadly, this was not the experience of 67 year old Arles Cepeda in the Bronx, who found herself being arrested after calling the police “too many times” about drug dealers in her building and other unsafe conditions. Hemp for those who don’t know is the male of the cannabis plant. The female plant is what contains THC, the substance that gets one high. Hemp is just an amazing industrial product.
If one has ever had a shirt or a piece of rope made from hemp one is struck by its durability. Much more durable than cotton for instance. It is tough but also soft. It has a million uses, from paper to building material. However for years the drug war (not to say cotton producers and producers of chemical based products such as Nylon) have gotten in the way of the legal cultivation of this very useful plant. An unfunded cooperative agreement between the USDA’s Agricultural Research Service (ARS) and a currently unnamed corporation plans to address the ‘boar taint problem’ which causes a pig’s meat to smell of male reproductive organs by altering a pig’s genome. Sky News US is reporting that video footage has surfaced of a uniformed police officer shoving a wheelchair bound paralyzed man off the curb and into the road. Only the seat belt attached to the chair stopped the man from falling out.
Devaughn Frierson had approached a group of police officers before the incident took place. The officer who pushed the wheelchair into the road has not been named but can be heard complaining that the wheelchair ran over his foot. Iran has built a 27-meter-long missile, capable of delivering a warhead “far beyond Europe,” and placed it on a launch pad at a site close to Tehran, an Israeli television report said Wednesday, showing what it said were the first satellite images of the missile ever seen in the West.

State efforts to stop warrantless NSA spying are off to a fast start in the 2015 legislative session.
Just two weeks into this year’s legislative season, and with many legislatures not even in session yet, legislators in four states have already introduced bills to ban material support or resources to any federal agency engaged in warrantless spying.
