Golden RiceNatural News – by L.J. Devon

In the eyes of some professors and scientists, genetically modified foods can be an open door toward transhumanism — believing that mankind can break through current physical limitations by genetically altering food, offspring and the environment.

Could this really be an ulterior motive in the minds of professors who advocate genetically modified organisms?

How might GMO-influenced transhumanism destroy what is natural and eclectic, as manipulations of life and environment restrict the diversity of agriculture and people, eliminating the “flaws” of nature, while discarding the “unfit.”

As the housing market slowly recovers, a majority of homeowners and renters are finding it hard to meet rising rents and mortgage payments, new research finds.

Over half of Americans (52%) have had to make at least one major sacrifice in order to cover their rent or mortgage over the last three years, according to the “How Housing Matters Survey,” which was commissioned by the nonprofit John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and carried out by Hart Research Associates. These sacrifices include getting a second job, deferring saving for retirement, cutting back on health care, running up credit card debt, or even moving to a less safe neighborhood or one with worse schools.   Continue reading “Half of Americans can’t afford their house”

Windows XP rises from the graveExtreme Tech

With a simple registry hack, you can net yourself five more years of official Microsoft updates for your aging Windows XP machine. Microsoft, though, says you really shouldn’t do it — and that you ought to be a good little boy and “upgrade to a more modern operating system” instead. Read on, to find out how to enable the Windows XP updates — and whether you should do it or not.

The whole Windows XP retirement is becoming a bit of a farce. Microsoft technically ended support for Windows XP on April 8, 2014. But if you were a big company or government with lots of money, Microsoft offered to continue supporting your XP machines — and then, when a zero-day vulnerability was found, Microsoft fixed that, too. And now, it seems there’s an easy way to gain five more years of support.   Continue reading “Windows XP rises from the grave: Simple hack gives you five more years of updates”

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Gubernatorial candidate Chris Holbrook was arrested for exercising his 1st Amendment rights while in a public park.  He and some supporters were peacefully gathering signatures  to achieve ballot access — a fundamental political freedom — but police insisted that he needed a permit and placed him in shackles.

Chris Holbrook, who is running for governor of Minnesota on the Libertarian Party ticket, has 2 weeks to gather 2,000 signatures in order to appear on the ballot.  This is a requirement of all minor parties in state-wide races in Minnesota.  Holbrook’s deadline is June 3rd.   Continue reading “Minnesota gubernatorial candidate arrested while exercising free speech in a park”

BARTOW, FL — A 16-year-old girl was arrested and expelled from school after she demonstrating the traditional ‘erupting volcano’ in class as a science experiment.   Even a year later, she is still being haunted by the multiple felonies she was charged with.

Kiera Wilmot’s volcano was designed to demonstrate a chemical reaction simulating a volcanic eruption.  Inside her volcano prop, was an 8-ounce water bottle with some toilet bowl cleaner in it.  When the cleaner is exposed to aluminum, it creates an exothermic chemical reaction.   Continue reading “Honor student charged with 2 felonies for making a volcano as science experiment”

CanolaThe Guardian -by Brendan Foster

An organic farmer has lost a landmark court case against a neighbour who grew genetically modified food.

Steve Marsh was suing his neighbour and former friend Michael Baxter for $85,000 after claiming that GM canola drifted onto his oats, rye and sheep farm at Kojonup, 260km south-east of Perth.

As well as financial compensation, Marsh wanted Western Australia’s supreme court to issue a permanent injunction banning Baxter from planting GM crops.   Continue reading “GM crops: organic farmer loses court case over alleged contamination”

If drones over America, heavily armed law enforcement agencies, and a massive government surveillance web hasn’t yet convinced you that the United States is rapidly moving towards a police state then maybe the following report out of New York will be an eye opener.

Indoctrination centers abound across the land of the free, with high schools now taking a queue from the TSA:

A New York high school is the latest in the nation to ban backpacks following several bomb threats, and has even taken extra steps, including sealing up students’ lockers. Continue reading “Police State High: School Bans Backpacks, Seals Lockers, Forces Bathroom Registrations”

Medicare can no longer automatically deny coverage requests for sex reassignment surgeries, a federal board ruled today in a groundbreaking decision that recognizes the procedures are medically necessary for people who don’t identify with their biological sex. Ruling in favor of 74-year-old transgender Army veteran Denee Mallon of Albuquerque, whose request to have Medicare pay for her genital reconstruction was denied two years ago, the agency’s Departmental Appeals Board said there was no justification for a three-decade-old HHS rule excluding such surgeries from procedures covered by the national health program for the elderly and disabled.   Continue reading “Medicare Ruling Big Win for Transgender Rights”

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) just published a statistical study on the amount of derivatives worldwide at the end of 2013, and they reach the astronomical amount of $710 Trillions ($710,000,000,000,000). For comparison purposes, the United States GDP in 2013 amounts to $16 Trillion, or 44 times less. And this mass of derivatives beats by 20% the preceding record, dating just before the 2008 crisis… We hear a lot about bubbles these days, in the stock market, the bond market or in the commodities market, but this one is without a doubt the greatest one.   Continue reading “Amount of Derivatives in the World: 710 Trillions of dollars”

I mowed the lawn today, and after doing so I sat down and had a cold beer. The day was really quite beautiful, and the drink facilitated some deep thinking.

My wife walked by and asked me what I was doing and I said ‘nothing’. The reason I said that instead of saying ‘just thinking’ is because she would have said ‘about what’. At that point I would have to explain that men are deep thinkers about various topics which would lead to other questions.    Continue reading “What deep thinkers men are…”
