The Republican health reform plan revealed Monday afternoon suffers the same fatal flaw as Obamacare, mistakenly focusing on the cost of insurance. It’s like getting financing so you can afford to pay $500,000 for a junked automobile. Only big government shops this way.

Insurance is a means to finance the cost of medical bills. Premiums are determined by the pricing of healthcare services, to which politicians have turned a blind eye. The system has been structured to eliminate price competition among hospitals, labs and physicians. It is precisely how Americans are being bled dry. J.C. Penney says it will be closing anywhere from 130 to 140 stores as well as two distribution centers over the next several months as it aims to improve profitability in the era of online shopping.

Concealed carriers in Contra Costa County (CA) received an unexpected letter in the mail recently. Earlier this month, the county’s sheriff department sent a letter telling CCW permit holders that their personal information had been released to ABC7 as part of a public records request.

A small plane crashed Sunday on a residential street in New Jersey, injuring the pilot, knocking down power lines and damaging parked cars, officials said.

Two Michigan public school teachers and the secretary to the district superintendent have resigned after being caught on video at a bar with a group of other teachers who were playing the “MFK” game — in which participants are given three names then choose who they’d marry, have sex with and kill.

Robert G. The Port St. Lucis Police Department posted surveillance video of what they say was an attempted break-in at a gas station. HOUSTON, TEXAS — As a local Houston store owner tried to get into his car, two armed robbers ambushed him. He drew his handgun and shot at both of them, killing at least one. Houston police arrived at the scene to find a deceased male matching the description given by the store owner. The whereabouts of the second robber are unknown at this time.
