Bolivian President Evo Morales was left red-faced when his mobile phone suddenly blasted out of the sound of a woman sexually moaning.
The humiliating moment was caught on camera as President Morales glanced at his phone during in the almost silent courtroom.
In shock, the Bolivian juggled his phone attempted to silence it, but sends it flying, forcing him to jump up from his seat and grab the phone – still playing the video – from the floor.
President Morales embarrassing moment sent the otherwise quiet courtroom into raptures of laughter as he scrambled to stop the “porn” playing aloud.
The 57-year-old has been in charge of the South American nation since 2006, and is currently battling the demise of left-wing populism on the continent.
President Morales is attempting to buck the trend by announcing his intention to seek an unprecedented fourth term as president.
Fifty two per cent of Bolivians voted against extending the presidential term limits in a national referendum in February and the Catholic Chuch said the move could “widen schisms in Bolivian society” and “generate violence”.
However, his plans have been heavy criticism from the left-wing government in Venezuela, despite Latin American countries being traditionally adverse to appearing to interfere in one another’s domestic affairs.
President Morales insisted he was just honouring the wishes of his supported to stay on for the 2019 vote.
“If the people say, ‘let’s go with Evo,’ then let’s continue defeating the right and continues with our process,” he said earlier this month.
Bolivia’s courts have moved to rule out another referendum attempt arranged by President Morales vying to keep him in office for another term.
“You can not raise a new consultation, a new process with the same content on something that has already been decided on by the Constitutional Court, whether or not it has been submitted to a referendum,” Judge Ruddy Flores said.
President Morales’ left-wing agenda includes tackling poverty, fighting the influence of the United States and big multinational companies in his country.
The head of Bolivia’s Movement for Socialism party recently declared an amnesty for 1,800 prisoners.
The pardons come as part of his continued plan to cut down on prison overcrowding, President Morales is set to free prisoners including pregnant women, handicapped people, those with minor sentences and people awaiting trial as he seeks to easy prison overcrowding.
It is the fourth time the left-wing leader has issued mass pardons over the course of his presidency. It is estimated that 15,000 individuals remain incarcerated in the country, a third of whom have not yet been sentenced.
