SAN DIEGO (AP) — Bumble Bee Foods LLC is recalling some of its 5-ounce canned tuna because of a risk the fish could spoil.
The company said Wednesday that some cans’ seals may not be tight enough. Loose seals could let in pathogens and spoil the tuna, sickening an eater.
There have been no reports so far of any related illnesses.
The cans were distributed to retailers across the country between Jan. 17 and Feb. 28 and have “best by” rates that range from Jan. 16, 2016 through Jan. 18, 2016.
The products subject to the recall include Bumble Bee brand and Brunswick brand 5-ounce cans of chunk white albacore in water and chunk light tuna in water and vegetable oil.
Consumers who think they may have purchased one of the recalled products can contact Bumble Bee to get their money back and throw away the canned tuna.
Bumble Bee is privately held and based in San Diego.

This is really sad. Never before have I seen this kind of a warning. WTF?
Yes it is relly sad isn`t it. I`m suprised that they didn`t donate those cans of Albacor tuna to the food banks. Actualy I am suprised that they even sell any fish products. Here in Wi. they say that if you are pregnant and go fishing around the Great Lakes and the inland lakes that you should not even eat the fish that you catch. And for inland fish they say only – I believe they say – not to eat but only one – that is what they say in the fishing license manual you get when you buy a fishing license – or it is two meals of fish – and that is for everyone that eats what they catch – a week because of mercury polution in the waters here. THAT IS WHAT IS SAD for sure. I used to like to catch and eat the fish around here but now I do not even get a license any more. Fishing has become another rich man`s hobby/sport.
Sounds fishy … no pun intended … I think.
Anyway, ewwww, anything from the ocean these days is contaminated going way back to the BP oil disaster (corexit) and then to Fukushima (radiation).
. . .
Quite the word game when BP used that damned “corexit” eh.
Indeed . . . no “correcting it” in sight.

“Consumers who think they may have purchased one of the recalled products can contact Bumble Bee to get their money back and throw away the canned tuna.”
Damn! I just bought 1,000 cans the other day!
Ring…ring……. “Hello, Bumblebee tuna?”
It’s NOT JUST the OCEAN.
The DFG (dept fish and game) have been poisoning high alpine lakes. Some of the best lakes in the mountains of California were sterilized. Now you don’t know what the hell your going to come across anywhere. My bug out location is a lake that got hit by it.
probably the only thing relatively safe to eat now would be your pets
Sick as it is you may be right. Just makke sure you fed your pets organic food. LOL
