Alleged drug dealers shot an agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) on Thursday in what was described as an ambush during a drug buy operation conducted in the Chicago area. The gunmen shot the agent twice. Agents returned fire, killing one.
The shooting occurred in Gary, Indiana, just southeast of Chicago on Thursday. The incident occurred during a drug buy operation, ABC News reported. The drug buy is part of an ongoing effort by federal officials to attempt to reduce drug-related gang violence in the Chicago area. Officials said their teams go after the “worst of the worst.”
The alleged drug dealer reportedly shot the ATF agent in the chest and arm. The agent is said to be in stable condition with “non-life-threatening injuries.”

One of the people involved in the controlled drug buy was killed after law enforcement officers returned fire, Fox News reported.
About a month ago, another ATF agent was shot while assisting Chicago police officers in a drug operation, Breitbart News reported. The gunman shot the agent in the face, but he survived the attack.
A few days later, police arrested 27-year-old Ernesto Godinez in connection with the shooting. Police describe Godinez as a known gang member.
The ATF announced the formation of the Chicago Crime Gun Strike Force in June 2017. As part of that operation, the ATF sent 20 additional agents to the area and provided additional technology resources to the city to help combat gun crimes.

Wasn’t much of an “ambush” if only one guy opened fire on the ATF.
They demanded long prison sentences, and that means a lot of criminals are going to think twice about giving up.
Damn right. That was a cheap ass ambush, lacking manpower and ammo.
