Cold Elvis Presley fans celebrate his birthday in Memphis

Herald Online

— Elvis Presley fans have gathered at Graceland in sub-freezing temperatures to celebrate what would have been the late singer’s 80th birthday.

Priscilla Presley, who was married to the rock and roll icon, and their daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, joined fans from around the world for a cake cutting ceremony Thursday outside Graceland, Elvis’ longtime Memphis home. They also sang “Happy Birthday” in 15-degree weather.

Priscilla and Lisa Marie Presley thanked fans for braving the cold weather and keeping the singer’s legacy alive.

Elvis Presley was born Jan. 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi. He moved to Memphis with his parents at age 13. He died on Aug. 16, 1977 in Memphis at age 42.

An auction of Elvis Presley-related memorabilia is scheduled for Thursday evening.

    1. “Watch Featuring Star of David and Cross

This custom-designed watch was made for Elvis by Harry Levitch, who also made the wedding rings for Elvis and Priscilla Presley. The design, showcasing a Star of David and Christian cross, was meant to symbolize the brotherhood of men in Elvis’ entourage. Elvis, whose great-great maternal grandmother was Jewish, also celebrated his roots by wearing a “Chai” necklace.”

      1. Thanks Angel. I was at work and did some quick reference but it seems they even champion him as their own in many references. Recognizing only each other while simultaneously disregarding nonmembers and/or pilfering the the talents and achievements to claim as their own accomplishments through twisted legalese and other lies is standard modus operandi.

Yes, I believe “the king” was also used as part of the grand construct.
