Dashcam Video Show Gunfire Exchange Involving Sheriff’s Deputy

Published on Jan 14, 2017 by Dark Horse News

The Troup County Sheriff’s Department has released video of an officer-involved shooting on Jan. 9, 2017. This footage, edited for time, shows Deputy Michael Hockett arriving and entering a rural county residence to check on a person. Matthew Edmondson later arrives at the property, repeatedly kicks and shoots the officer’s vehicle, then drives to the back of house where the deputy is knocking on doors. Gunfire and Hockett’s voice can be heard over the dashboard radio from Hockett’s hand held radio. Deputy Hockett flees the property on foot with Edmondson in pursuit. Gun shots are exchanged, and both men are wounded. The deputy sped away from the scene, and Edmondson was later arrested following a stand off.

  1. UNMITIGATED MORON!!!!!

He had the PERFECT opportunity… the pig didn’t know he was there, he could have crept on him and double-tapped the POS’s dome with NO PROBLEM.

Instead, the pig is BARELY wounded, and he’s locked up for good (for all intents & purposes… considering how short time is getting).

    IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Was the deputy going to check on Edmondson or someone else. Funny how fast that deputy got his heavy self up and over that gate. Another headline on a video that came up after this one had the title, deputy in shoot out with mentally ill…. This guy did not appear mental ill, but quite determined and in his right mind. Probably just a lame excuse for justified anger at the so called law.

  3. I read the description on another vid. on the same subject. Supposedly a family member called sheriff to check on this person because they were mentally ill. Of course I don’t have all the details, but the way he dealt with the woman as far as getting her in the truck was firm and direct. Again, he had presence of mind and didn’t appear mental, but who knows.

  4. The pig had no right to climb that locked gate in the first place unless he either had a warrant, or reason to believe someone inside was in immediate danger.

In other words, he needed to take a few more bullets.

  5. That pig ran like sh!t when the Edmondson was chasing him with the gun. LOL

It looked like Edmonson took a round in the arm, but does anyone know where the pig was hit?

There are important lessons to be learned from any incident like this.

One, of course, is to practice shooting so much that you CAN’T miss. Set unrealistically high standards for yourself. Practice two-handed, one-handed (both right and left), around barriers, while running, at longer distance (50 yards), after doing pushups to elevate your heart rate, etc.

The other takeaway here is that only shots to the brain are guaranteed to end a fight quickly. You could shoot someone straight through the heart and still have him continue to shoot a good number of rounds at you for several more seconds. And if you ever need to defend yourself against a pig, they almost always wear armor, so that’s even more reason to aim for the head.
