Pamela Bailey, the president and CEO of the Grocery Manufacturer’s Association (GMA), wants you to trust the biggest chemical sales companies in the world to ‘label GMO at will, on their own terms’. Sounds just like how they want everything else done, including disclosure to the public of the substantial scientific evidence proving their suicide seeds contain real health hazards, and to bypass due process of law through the infiltration of Supreme Courts, our Congress, and the FDA.
In a statement recently reported at a teleconference representing the GMA, Pamela Bailey said:
“The [Food and Drug Association] up to now has said that GMOs are safe, but we also recognize that some consumers want more information and companies might want to include GMO information, so we are asking the FDA to outline labeling standards companies can use voluntarily,”
Voluntarily – really? Isn’t that like asking Monsanto to tell us, as they did back in the 1970s, that DDT was safe? It wasn’t a voluntary action on the company’s part that eventually caused DDT to be banned, even though the world was told DDT would not harm our health. Or how about asking Monsanto to voluntarily tell us about their harmful creation of PCBs in the 1920s?

It wasn’t until 50 years later that independent testing proved that polychlorinated biphenyls used to produce coolant fluids for electrical transformers, capacitors, and electric motors could cause cancer. Or how about when Monsanto first started out – they certainly didn’t tell anyone how unhealthy one of their biggest products ever made really was – saccharin for the Coca-Cola company in 1901. Nor does a Coca-Cola bottle, even today say, “Warning, this can contains coal tar, and may be harmful to your health.”
That’s just Monsanto’s lies and misleading propaganda. It doesn’t include Dow Chemical’s Union Carbide pesticide disaster that killed 17,000 immediately and possibly more than 100,000 to date. It doesn’t include Syngenta’s multiple lies about the death of bees and neonicotinoids, either. I could go on an on ad nauseam, but most sane people know we can’t trust Big Ag and biotech to do anything until their hands are forced.
Voluntary labeling of GMOs is like Russian roulette with extra bullets in every chamber. No thanks.
