Ex-priest accused of sex abuse found shot dead in home

New York Post – by Tamir Lapin

A former New Jersey priest was shot dead in his Nevada home — a month after his name appeared on a list of Garden State priests credibly accused of sexual abuse, authorities said.

John Capparelli, 70, was found with a fatal gunshot wound to his neck in the kitchen of his home in Henderson, the Clark County Coroner’s Office said.

The defrocked Roman Catholic priest died under “suspicious circumstances” and his death is being investigated as a homicide, City of Henderson Police said.

“The world is a safer place without him,” said Richard Fitter, a man who accused Capparelli of abuse, to The Star-Ledger after hearing about his death.

“Whatever led to his death, it’s a certain amount of karma.”

A police spokeswoman wouldn’t say if Capparelli’s death is related to the sex abuse accusations against him because “the case is still an open investigation.”

Capparelli was accused of groping and brutalizing teenage boys in the 1970s and 1980s. He was defrocked in 1992.

He also ran a website featuring young men wrestling in revealing bathing suits, according to the Star-Ledger.

He later worked as a Newark public school math teacher until his license was revoked in 2011, after allegations against him were made public.

Capparelli bought his home in Nevada in August 2016 and worked as a math tutor for high school and college students.

He was one of 188 priests named by the five New Jersey dioceses last month.

  1. As Jesus clearly stated, beware of the temples and men who wear fancy robes. The criminal state has worked overtime to make themselves a god over otherwise free men. Don’t be deceived. The catholic church has no more to do with Christianity than Zionism has to do with Judaism. If we want to concern ourselves with sexual perversion, which we should, we need look no farther than the Lincoln scandal involving boys’ town and a whole lot of drug sales and pedophilia that continues to this day. Maybe Jesus wasn’t the Son of God and maybe there is no God, but the Catholic church is no longer Christian , if it ever was. I’m sure there are perverted rabbis and imams and senators and congressmen who should also come under scrutiny. We daily meet the wrath of the ungodly state who would love nothing better than to assume the role of God. Call me naïve, but frankly,I side with Jesus, God or not.
