HOUSTON (KTRK) — A violent home invasion took placed on Houston’s eastside around 1:30am, according to investigators.
Senior Officer Ken Nealy with HPD’s robbery division told Eyewitness News a Hispanic male was sleeping at his apartment on Myrtle when four or five crooks kicked in his front door and stormed into the residence.
According to officers, the men were wearing black hoodies and white bandannas to conceal their identities. Authorities said the criminals screamed “police” as they demanded property.
At some point, the crooks got in a struggle when one of the men and shot the resident in the head.
“This potentially could have been worse had not the neighbors been alerted by all the commotion going on,” said Officer Nealy. “The neighbors started moving about. With that being done, it may have caused the suspects to leave a little sooner than they wanted to. Again, it’s still in the early stages of the investigation.”
Paramedics rushed the injured man to Ben Taub Hospital. Authorities said the bullet entered his head, but didn’t exit. The man was in surgery as of 6am Wednesday, listed in critical condition.

probably real police,
yelling “police” as they came through the door was an uncontrolled reflex reaction!

Boy, sounds like the real police to me.
“as they demanded property” could they be a little more specific? can’t do much with that information except speculate. I prefer details not generalities.
