As the celebration of our country’s independence approaches, concern over the threat of a foreign terror attack skyrockets. Reports surfaced on Tuesday that the FBI has begun establishing command centers across the country in response to potential terrorist threats over the July 4th weekend. The reports explain there is no credible threat expected over the weekend but the response illustrates the concern the government has over potential attacks.
The most obvious concern is the continually growing threat of ISIS, the terror group seemingly obsessed with symbolic attacks geared toward specific dates of celebration and significance. The al-Qaeda backed 9/11 attacks were planned around the date congruent with the U.S. emergency number 911. Experts believe ISIS is even more obsessed with ensuring major attacks align with noteworthy dates. This understanding is what has the U.S. government and FBI concerned an attempt at an attack during the celebration of our country’s freedom is likely.
The FBI’s concentration will be what most call ‘soft targets’ or large gatherings of citizens, outside of major events, like shopping malls as opposed to concerts or sporting events which are consistently monitored for threats. The regional command centers will receive any relevant information from all levels of government including state and local. The centers should allow for more area-specific monitoring and lead to quicker decision making and response.
In addition to the establishment of the command centers, the U.S. government is making a huge push to roundup any known ISIS supporters prior to the nationwide celebrations. The potential of supporters becoming operational at any time over the weekend has officials concerned the attack could feature Americans taking orders from foreign threats as in previous attacks by Americans supporting the terror group. Many believe the rounding up of ISIS supporters will consist of arrests on minor charges in hopes of building a larger case while eliminating their immediate threat.
With such a significant response by the FBI, it would be assumed politicians understand the threat of foreign attacks, more specifically the threat of ISIS, but this is surprisingly not the case. Candidates hoping to earn a bid to the White House in 2016 have expressed their views on the threat of ISIS with varying degrees of concern and a wide range of ideas on the U.S. response to the terror group expanding throughout the unstable region.
Currently, the U.S. has established a plan to use aerial attacks partnered with ground support from countries surrounding the ISIS occupied areas like Saudi Arabia and Jordan. The plan has received harsh criticism from conservative candidates who believe U.S. ground support is required to ensure the threat is neutralized. Liberal candidates have pointed to the ‘failed’ invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq as proof the use of U.S. ground troops is irrelevant to overall campaign success and it will require neighboring countries and their own military involvement to eliminate the growing threat of ISIS.
Independent, liberal U.S. senator, Bernie Sanders recently announced his plans to run for the democratic presidential nomination. Polling experts reported on Gambling.com affiliates pin Sanders as a top-2 favorite to earn the bid along with Hillary Clinton. Sanders was asked about his views on ISIS back in February and expressed he sees no reason to provide U.S. ground support in response to the ISIS expansion and potential threat to the homeland; “At the end of the day, the only people who will win that war are the people in the neighborhood…Those people are going to have to lead the effort against the barbarism of ISIS.” Sanders seems to have ignored the evidence of this plan’s failure in Yemen as the US implemented this strategy of limited aerial support without ground support to counter the growth of al-Queda in the Arabian Peninsula with limited to no success.
As November 2016 approaches candidates’ views of the response to ISIS will continue to garner attention. The FBI’s notable response to the threat of an attack over the weekend is just another step in the escalation of the importance of ISIS to both foreign allies and to the U.S.

Well telling us the FBI has set up Command Centers across the country sure doesn’t make me reassured. It’s like saying “terrorists” have set up Command Centers across the country.

FBI Command Centers can NOT prevent CIA operatives from shooting up a Mall or 4th of July event. What a pathetic joke. To me, this is either fear mongering, or foreshadowing a staged event. As with all things, time will tell . . .

Wow. I was amazed that this article’s basis is that we really WERE attacked by ‘terrorists’ on 9/11, and that ISIS is “a’ comin’ ta’ git’ us!”

Absolutely.
Americans need to be AGAIN reminded (of the lie) that there’s a “global war on terror”, but the US government needs a REALLY BIG EVENT to mask the coming economic collapse. A series of small attacks, murdering it’s own citizens with a boogieman the US and Israel created, armed, trained, and funds, won’t hide the coming debacle of the dollar. The small attacks are simply to take away more Rights, find out which PATRIOTIC AMERICANS are the actual threat to this treasonous government, and perhaps have Jade Helm in place to help implement Martial Law.
