Former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo died today at age 82, multiple sources confirmed to ABC News.

Cuomo, a Democrat who served as governor of the Empire State from 1983 to 1994, is the father of current New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Andrew Cuomo was sworn in to a second term as governor today, becoming the first Democrat to enter a second term as New York governor since his father, who reportedly was too frail to attend the ceremony.

“We’re missing one family member,” Andrew Cuomo said at his swearing in, according to an initial transcript from the governor’s office. “My father is not with us today. We had hoped that he was going to be able to come; he is at home and he is not well enough to come. We spent last night with him. … I went through the speech with him. He said it was good, especially for a second-termer. See, my father is a third-termer. But he sends his regards to all of you.

“He couldn’t be here physically today, my father,” Andrew Cuomo added. “But my father is in this room. He is in the heart and mind of every person who is here. He is here and he is here, and his inspiration and his legacy and his experience is what has brought this state to this point. So let’s give him a round of applause.”

  2. He was the first governor I remember growing up in NY(upstate lol). That place was/is a shithole with more rules and taxes than jobs.

    I hope it hurt. POS!

I left because I like personal freedom and the ability to carry a firearm without sucking off 2 judges and the sheriff for permission. Plus having a job other than for the state is nice.

    1. Yep, I believe we both are the same age range, Nottoobitter. He was the first governor I remember growing up as well when I was living in Buffalo. Then it was Pataki and now it’s Cuomo’s shithole son. Like another family dynasty. I wonder if Pataki has any children that are planning on running for governor soon. I’m getting sick of these family politicians/puppets running things.

Anyways, NY truly is the land of high taxes and I’m glad to be out of there. Texas ain’t great, but it is ALOT better than NY at this point. Definitely more freedom.

  3. Good Bye , Do not know where you ended………. up or down… but you are through with your gun control, Liberal ideas… The world now is a better place with your sorry ass gone.

  4. How come Kissinger outlives all of these guys? When is that toad ever gonna croak so I can rest in peace for a day?
