I stopped watching “awards shows” probably when I was in my late teens. I vividly remember Steely Dan was in a category with someone like Madonna. From that point on, I thought awards shows were total crap. I think it was Madonna, or someone like that. But in no way should Steely Dan have been in a category with a Madonna-like “artist”.
The rock and roll hall of fame is bullshit. CHICAGO’s not in it, do you believe that? Madonna’s in it, and CHICAGO isn’t. Jan Wenner runs the rock and roll hall of fame, and he had some kind of dispute with CHICAGO, so he made it personal.
Objectively, CHICAGO may be one of the all-time top-5 rock and roll bands as far as: hits, innovation, creativity, longevity, YOU NAME IT.

Lead guitarist Terry Kath of Chicago: JIMI HENDRIX said he was the best rock guitarist he ever saw.
