RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – The Virginia Department of Health announced on Wednesday it is monitoring 103 travelers to the state who don’t have symptoms yet but are being monitored for signs of Ebola.
A statement from VDH reads:
Post-Arrival, Active Monitoring Update: As of June 1*, the Virginia Department of Health had 103 travelers under post-arrival, active monitoring. Ninety-three (93) were in the Northern Health Planning Region; 1 in Northwest Region; 5 in Central Region; 1 in Eastern Region, and 0 in Southwest Region. These travelers arrived within the previous 21 days from travel that originated in Guinea, Liberia, or Sierra Leone.
Last week, 45 travelers entered Virginia’s post-arrival, monitoring program and 33 travelers completed the 21-day monitoring period.
We will not provide details beyond these total numbers. These individuals are asymptomatic and do not pose a risk to the public. However, it is expected that if any of these travelers develop symptoms they should be evaluated in order to rule out Ebola infection. In the interest of privacy, and as required by law, we will not be discussing the details of individual cases during the evaluation period. If an individual were to test positive for Ebola infection, we will provide information to the public in coordination with the hospital, the local health district and state and local jurisdictional partners.

The last Ebola scare was only part of a public education process. Now that the public knows what Ebola is, it can be used to scare them into getting vaccinated, or even demanding mandatory vaccinations for everyone. This article seems to exist as a reminder.
