Spent the week-end in the field.
We operated as a protection force for some folks in a base camp that comprised women and children and threatened by men with bad intent. With a little intel from the base commander and other sources, topo map, and sat photos we put out an op order. We negotiated an ORP with a local landowner and rucked into the AO behind the friendly convoy. At about a 4 mile per hour pace we covered 3 miles, entered into the AO and set up a patrol base near the friendlies but away from prying eyes.
We reconned a good part of the next day then laid up for a few hours until dark. At sunset we set out utilizing thermal and IR to find the bad guys to prevent them from attacking the friendly base camp. Friendly patrols were frequent and while we avoided most of them, a tense encounter caused us to identify and enter their camp. We helped organize their defense, thermal scanned their perimeter and prepped to recon the most likely avenue of attack.
We got lucky.
The bad guys entered the AO with a blacked out vehicle and prepped to attack abput 300 meters out. One of our guys picked them up with a thermal scanner. We notified the base commander to direct an assault group towards them while we worked the flank. About 0100 hours we pinned them in a classic hammer and anvil.
The fight was short. We killed all of them.
What did you guys do this weekend?

Exactly brother Brooks.

“What did you guys do this weekend?”
I worked at a movie theater this past weekend with lots of sheeple coming in to see the movie, “American Sniper”. Not as nearly as adventurous and action packed as yours, I guess. 🙁
I baby-sat a classified DOD aircraft with an AR15 slung acoss my chest and 90 rounds.
As usual, no action.
