Chicken Coops – Once feathered out you’ll want to move your chickens into a chicken coop! Rule of thumb is about 3-4 square feet per chicken inside the henhouse and 10 sq/ft per chicken in an outside run. Keep local chicken predators in mind and make a safe home for your flock!
Flooring – Pine shavings work best. You can even try the deep litter method for even less maintenance.

I watched those prepper shows on TV and people who raise chickens claim that you should just eat the eggs and not kill the chickens for meat because when you add up the pennies eating just eggs comes out way ahead.
Excellent post. The chicken is nature’s tiller. Fence them into your desired plot for a week or two. During that time, let them eat the weed seeds, fertilize the ground, and scratch up the ground. By the time the soil is tilled up and fertilized, move them to your next area. Let the chickens do the hard work, if you have access to them.
