Ind. law enforcer pepper sprayed infant, faces multiple charges

CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) – A local member of law enforcement is now facing multiple charges, including pepper spraying an infant.

Charles Edelen is now charged with aggravated battery, criminal recklessness and domestic battery.

Edelen is a reserve police officer for the city of Clarksville and is also a Clarksville firefighter.  

The court records show that on Tuesday night in Jeffersonville, Indiana, Edelen was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife and the father of her child.

Authorities said that Edelen pepper sprayed the child’s father and the child and at one point Edelen had a gun in his hand.

Edelen has bonded out of jail.
