Lennon was a talented guy, no doubt, but his motives and work
is questionable to say the least. If he were alive today, I’d bet
that he’d be a huge left wing supporter.
He was also monitored for radical communist activities, in the day.
It was also reported that he was going to be denied extensions
on his visa, which would force him to leave the country.
If this were to have happened, I suspect that he would have
taken up residence in France. He, like so many other Brits,
come to the US to avoid the huge taxation base in England.
(I don’t blame him for coming here, I would have done the same.)
But he was seen as a dangerous individual due to his
influence on the masses through song and cult of personality.
I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the “goons” had him taken
out much like they’ve done others, with a “programmed” punk.
Amazing how time changes one’s perspective, for even I liked
some of his music, when in my teens. Until I learned about
the meaning and intent of his agenda behind his music.

Lennon was monitored because of his PEACE ACTIVISM & GOVERNMENT DISSENT, and because of his ability to influence a great amount of people, not because of “communist radical activity”, that’s total BULLSHIT. Yes, it appears he was off’d ala a patsy ala RFK, JFK, MLK, etc…
His motives were PEACE, not a “communist agenda”, that is 100% grade A BULLSHIT. He was an enemy of the 1%, and also said some nasty things along the lines about Jews and many others. He rubbed the wrong people the wrong way, so they did a “LONE NUT GUNMAN” patsy on him.
He was NOT going to be deported, as you say above, in fact, he just WON his right to stay here. He said he loved NYC because it was the Rome of this time.
