A video showing the mountains, craters, ancient river beds and lava flows of Mars has been created from pictures taken by a European satellite. The Mars Express satellite was launched in 2003 and has now orbited the red planet around 12,500 times, taking images of the Martian landscape to form the 3D map used in the video. It is expected to continue its journey until the end of 2014. The European Space Agency joined forces with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) to create the flyover video as part of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the spacecraft’s launch. The soundtrack is an original score by the DLR’s planet cartography specialist Stephan Elgner. Report by Ashley Fudge.

    1. You know, when I was watching this, I was thinking that same thing, #1.

I was saying to myself, “You know, since the government is always first to see and the best stuff, this is probably just cheap crap they don’t care about in order to show something to the masses. Like throwing bread crumbs to a flock of seagulls.”

They will probably show the best stuff later after they declassify it as unimportant to them and in which they will already have new best stuff that tops that, which will then not be released until such and such time or number of years. The government secrecy cycle never ends.
