Meet Bloomberg’s anti-gun lobbyists in Oregon

Four lobbyists have registered to push for gun control in Salem Northwest Watchdog – by Shelby Sebens

Four Oregon lobbyists in Salem have registered as working for New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s gun control advocacy group, Mayors Against Illegal Guns.

According to the Oregon Government Ethics Commission, the group spent a whopping $781.59 during the first quarter of this year (January through March). The second quarter reports won’t be available until July. Bloomberg’s group reportedly is spending money in capitals across the country, pushing gun control initiatives.

What impact that has in Salem, where proposed gun bills have pretty much died, remains to be seen. State Sen. Betsy Johnson, D-Scappoose, wrote on her Facebook page thattalks have resumed in the Legislature but told Oregon Catalyst on Thursday that she is still opposed to gun legislation has been proposed and has “nothing to do with those New York folks.”
