A Metro-North train derailed on the southern tip of the Bronx, pushing at least one car into the water on Sunday morning, witnesses said.
The accident happened at 7:20 a.m. about 100 feet north of the Spuyten Duyvil station, as five of seven cars derailed, according to an MTA spokesman.
The Associated Press reported that fire officials said there were “multiple injuries,” but the severity was unclear.
The train originated out of Poughkeepsie, departing at 5:54 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive into Grand Central Terminal at 7:43 a.m., officials said. The cars were being pushed south by a locomotive.
Tracks involved in Sunday’s crash serve Metro-North’s Hudson line, including station stops in bedroom communities like Peekskill, Croton-Harmon, Ossining, Dobbs Ferry and Yonkers.
All Metro-North service between Croton-Harmon and Grand Central Terminal has been suspended.
A freight train hauling garbage derailed in about the same place back on July 18.
The northbound train went off rails between the Spuyten Duyvil and Marble Hill stations.

A train wreck in New York City reminds me of one thing. I haven’t heard a report in the news lately of a pot smoking conductor in a while.
Good. I hope they’re nice and deep in that cold water.
I say this because based on the train’s route and scheduled arrival time, everyone on that train was most likely a corporate executive commuting to his office in NYC to assist in the destruction of this country.
This accident should not be confused with the Obamacare train accident, which has killed hundreds, but is still “wrecking” in the hopes of killing millions.
My heart goes out to the victims of the above accident, as well as to the victims of Obamacare.
