  1. I am retired from a pharma company that deals in the eye care industry. You may have heard of it GrinNBarrett, it’s Alcon Laboratories. I worked at their corporate headquarters in Ft Worth, TX. It was a very good job, excellent benefits but still a pharma company. I remember back in the 90s when I was in my 40s, in a meeting the speaker said that as the baby boomers age they were expecting to make big profits for their Intraocular lenses (IOL’s) for cataract surgery. I thought then that these people can’t wait for us to start aging for their profits. You may have heard of this company, they make Opti-Free for contact lenses, other OTC eye drops but their big money maker was in eye surgeries and eye products that went with eye surgeries. Two years ago they were bought out by Novartis and people that still work there tell me Alcon is not the same company anymore and how lucky I was to be able to retire when I did. I got out of there while the gettin was good. Besides that I have learned a lot about pharma companies since then. I’m glad I no longer work in that industry.
