When you buy from a small business, you’re not helping a C.E.O. buy a 3rd vacation home, yacht, or new jet.
You’re helping a little girl get dance lessons or go to Girl Scouts, a little boy get his hockey gear or go to camp, and helping Moms and Dads put food on the table.
Buy local from small business and be a part of your local community.
They put a Dollar General store in here about six months ago. I was talking to the proprietor of the small business grocery store I have been going to since I was a child. I asked him how he was holding in there. He said, not good, look at the selves. And I would say from what he used to carry there is maybe a third left. Watched the whole thing happen in Klamath Falls when K-Mart, then Bi-Mart, then Wal-Mart, then Home Depot descended upon the once small town and took out every small business. I don’t know if it is coincidence, but it seemed that each new attack launched was done so during one of them thar recession thangs.
In the end equation, it is mammon that is the key and has always been the key to the destruction of our country and our way of life.
I agree with your assertion but from what I can see, it is already too late. This is the corporate grass roots stronghold over the people and unless you can afford to go completely off grid and produce your own food, there is not a whole lot we can do about it. Let’s face it, better have a pocket full of money before you attempt to go off grid, because it is not just as easy as thinking it up and doing it.
Bottom line, we allowed all this to happen to us through our ignorance and worship of that all mighty dollar and every day it gets worse.

I retired and moved to the small town of Goldfield Nv: now I have a small business as are all the others in town. We only have 200 people in town so we all depend on tourism to make ends meet. One of the things we will not let happen is Walle world or any other money grubbing scoundrels to come in here. Hope everyone is good and best wishes from Redhorse.
The largest town in my area, Alpine, Texas, many years ago had a similar situation when a WalMart tried to set up shop, but the City Council refused to allow it. However, there was already a Dollar General (or Family Dollar, same thing) in Alpine. Still, a lot of local businesses are doing okay (it helps Sul Ross State U is in Alpine). Same with my own town (I live outside it) which has a similar “general” franchise, but still, local businesses are doing okay. The fact that this area is a tourist haven helps.
