Netanyahu: NSA spying on Israel ‘not acceptable’

The Hill – by Jeremy Herb

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday criticized U.S. spying on Israel; he’s the latest world leader to take aim at the National Security Agency’s surveillance activities.

Documents leaked by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden to The Guardian and others on Friday showed that the NSA and Britain’s Government Communications Headquarters had targeted an email address for then-Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in 2009, as well as the Israeli defense minister.

Netanyahu said Monday the spying was not the kind of thing countries with close ties should do.

“With regard to things published in the past few days, I have asked for an examination of the matter,” Netanyahu said in broadcast remarks to his Likud Party, according to Reuters.

“In the close ties between Israel and the United States, there are things that must not be done and that are not acceptable to us,” he said.

Netanyahu did not say whether he would ask the United States or Britain for clarifications on the spying.

The latest disclosures from Snowden follow outrage over NSA spying on foreign leaders in other countries, most notably Germany and Brazil.

Some Israeli officials over the weekend said the latest disclosure should prompt Netanyahu to push for the release of Jonathan Pollard, a former U.S. Navy intelligence analyst who was sentenced to a life term in 1987 for spying for Israel.

Netanyahu said in a statement Sunday he did not need a “special occasion” to press Pollard’s case with the United States, according to Reuters.

  1. When I was in the Army, I was sent with an M1A2SEP tank to Ft. Know for the Armor Conference to be a display tank for the conference. I took my crew with me. Basically, it is a conference for all of the industrial war complex companies to show off all of the crap they have been trying to sell to the world to continue the wars.
Every day that we were there we had to constantly guard against an Israeli spy trying to steal a computer that was inside the tank. It is a highly sought after computer brain that controls a lot of the functions of the new tanks. He would show up every day and try to get my guys preoccupied so he could take it. We reported him every day to the CID and were told by CID to just keep an eye on him, and that the Israelis were the worst country in the world for espionage against America. They did nothing to stop him and they were not allowed to arrest or remove him from the base. I made sure that he understood that if he laid a hand on the part, that he would not be walking away from my tank. He finally gave up. Now tell me who runs our military when we cant remove or arrest an Israeli spy trying to steal part of a tank?

    1. JFK moved all the way back in the early 1960’s as a senator, to have israel listed as a hostile foreign state-entity. we all know what happened shortly after he attained the office of president. then we have the spy: pollard to look forward to who stole 1000’s of classified documents and sold them to russia and who the hell knows………and we have meat-puppet senators lobbying even today to have his charges dropped and have him re-patriot-ed back to his home country(hell).if these new world jews dont shadow the very definition of who Jesus said were of their father the devil………..then shut my mouth. these jews are truly the spawn of satan and will be the ones to welcome him into the nwo jerusalem
