NFL warns Texas that its proposed ‘bathroom bill’ could jeopardize its chances to host future Super Bowls

LA Times – by Sam Farmer

The NFL, which just held the Super Bowl in Texas, is warning that a “bathroom bill” targeting transgender persons could jeopardize future major events in that state. League spokesman Brian McCarthy said Friday that “discriminatory” legislation would “certainly be a factor” in awarding Super Bowls.

The Texas proposal would require individuals to use bathrooms that correspond to the sex on their birth certificate. A similar law in North Carolina led the NCAA to pull college championship events from that state.

“The NFL embraces inclusiveness,” McCarthy said. “We want all fans to feel welcomed at our events, and NFL policies prohibit discrimination based on age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or any other improper standard.

“If a proposal that is discriminatory or inconsistent with our values were to become law there, that would certainly be a factor considered when thinking about awarding future events.”

The NFL has scheduled the next four Super Bowls for Minneapolis, Atlanta, Miami and Los Angeles.

  1. I have better and more important things to do than watch sporting events.
I also don’t purchase any TV Cable products.
However if I did, I would respond by boycotting the products of the advertisers on NFL etc. game shows.
Turning their money spigot off seems to be something they understand.
Let the peoples voice be heard.

  2. As long as Roger Goodell, the epitome of political correctness (though if you read ESPN, ProFootballTalk of NBC, and other even more politically correct sports outlets you’d think Goodell was politically incorrect–he’s not!), is the NFL Commish, the NFL will continue to pull this sorta nonsense—and yes, the NFL games do need to be boycotted by all decent Americans…how dare that SOB tells Texas what to do!
