Should I drive a steel wedge into the top of the dowel to retain the hatchet head? I can spin it as it stands.
I see, its threaded, well I have it tight now. 🙂
Scratch that, I tried it on a dead log and it loosened up. It appears the dowel was burned to thread the head on, there is not enough bite on the dowel to keep it in place, i think small wedge will solve the problem.
Yes its treaded, but if you have a small wedge go ahead and drive it in make sure the grain is running with the face or the sharpie end. Frank these are not for throwing, just self defence not heat treated. Enjoy.
