NYPD gets ex-military dog, a 1st for the force

Caesar, a former military dog, is a newLong Island Newsday

The New York Police Department is welcoming a newcomer that’s the first of his kind for the nation’s largest police department: a former military service dog.

Caeser, a 4-year-old German shepherd, served three tours of duty overseas. Now he’ll be patrolling the New York City subways with Officer Juan Rodriguez.

The Defense Department has long made some of its retired dogs available to law enforcement agencies, but the NYPD hasn’t had one before. The arrangement saves the police force the $6,000 to $8,000 cost of training an inexperienced dog.

NYPD Sgt. Randy Brenner is a member of the NYPD Transit Bureau’s Canine Unit. He says military dogs make promising police partners, because they’re “already used to working in stressful situations.”

  1. Military dogs are trained to kill! This fits right in with the government ramping up the militarized police state by using more efficient ways to subjugate the population!

“stop resisting or I’ll sic the dog on you”

  2. Another wizard of journalism exposes his professionalism by misspelling “Caesar.”

    Don’t forget NYC’s pooper-scooper law, copper.

    wow. $6,000 – $8,000?

That should be enough to pay for at least one day’s court costs in just ONE of the numerous lawsuits against these @ssclowns.

    1. I used to know a guy that trained police/drug/security dogs profesionally and it was my impression that a cheap police dog could barely be touched for under $20.000 – $30.000 per dog for a really really cheap one, and that was back in the late 80`s early 90`s.
In fact he is the owner of Leerburg Dog Training, owned and founded by Ed Frawley.Google that and see some of his training and I think he has prices on that site and see for your selves – yea, I just typed in a search for “Leerburg”and it came up with a lot of links to that, I typed it in on the StartPage search engine and so I know it is still there 😉 Yea check it out to see some top of the line dog training. Yea he is – I guess – one of the best around. I used to live not too far from the guy. I never knew that that is what he did for a living though at the time. 🙁
