Banks are lending to companies and individuals at the fastest pace since the financial crisis, helping propel profits to near-record levels.
U.S. banks posted $40.24 billion in net income during the second quarter, the industry’s second-highest profit total in at least 23 years, according to data from research firm SNL Financial. U.S. jobs pay an average 23% less today than they did before the 2008 recession, according to a new report released on Monday by the United States Conference of Mayors.
In total, the report found $93 billion in lost wages.

Sunday in Tucson AZ, an illegal immigrant with no drivers license was pulled over for a routine traffic stop over an illegal right turn. However, that traffic stop led to police and Border Patrol officers being swarmed by a spontaneous protest.

The federal government unsuccessfully tried to house at least 400 illegal immigrant juveniles at empty stores, hotels, and warehouses in Wisconsin.
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, like many governors across the nation, was not even notified of these potential plans in July.

More than 600 illegal immigrants with criminal convictions were released by federal authorities in early 2013 in advance of the “sequester” budget cuts, according to a government watchdog report obtained by FoxNews.com.
The report by the Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General showed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement released “criminal aliens” from jails all over the country as part of a wave of releases in February 2013. The agency came under fire at the time for the decision, which critics described as politically motivated and dangerous. The U.S. Navy has instructed housekeepers to remove Gideon-placed Bibles from every hotel room on its military bases after it received a letter from the atheist group Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF).
“We were told today, June 23, 2014, that due to a new policy by the CEO of NEXCOM, Rear Admiral Robert J. The message the Wisconsin Judicial Branch recently sent is that you have can not milk your own cow unless you have a license from the Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP). This is way over the top. You can not milk a cow without a license, seriously.
Wisconsin farms that do have a DATCP license can milk their GMO fed cows and send their product to a processor. Burn the milk till most nutrients are dead or altered and then it is considered safe for human consumption. In an effort to protect personal data from falling into the hands of thieves, a bill that requires mandatory technology on all smartphones sold in California is one step away from becoming law after a California Senate vote on Monday.
California legislators are attempting to deal a blow to thieves who have made smartphone theft almost an epidemic crime in America’s most populous state. Smartphone theft accounts for more than half of all crimes in some of the state’s biggest cities, including San Francisco and Oakland. A Washington, DC news crew got more than it bargained for while working on a story about a new smartphone app that labels “sketchy” neighborhoods: they got robbed.
The incident took place on Saturday, as reporters from WUSA9 asked residents in a local neighborhood how they felt about living in an area labeled “sketchy” by a new app that went unnamed during the report. While residents told reporter Mola Lenghi that the neighborhood was not as unsafe as the app suggested, the news crew filming the interviews had their cargo lifted from their vehicle. The US is conducting air strikes and supplies weapons to help outgunned Iraqi Kurds fight off the offensive of Islamist militants. The Kurds are battling against extremists armed with American arms and nurtured thanks to America’s policies.

The first European infected by a strain of Ebola, Spanish priest Miguel Pajares, has died in hospital, Reuters reported, citing a spokeswoman for Madrid health authorities.
Pajares, 75, was airlifted from Liberia on August 7 after contracting the disease. The priest worked for a non-governmental organization in the African country. CINCINNATI (AP) — The wife and three children of an American man charged with “anti-state” crimes in North Korea are planning to attend a news conference in an effort to help his case, about 10 days after he pleaded with the U.S. government to intervene.
The family of Jeffrey Edward Fowle, 56, of Miamisburg in southwestern Ohio, is set to attend the news conference Tuesday at the law office of an attorney and family friend acting as their spokesman. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Drug Enforcement Administration paid an Amtrak employee hundreds of thousands of dollars over two decades to obtain confidential information it could have gotten for free, according to internal investigators at the railroad.
