PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Once-forgotten plaques placed by a Portland police officer in a city park to honor five Nazi-era German soldiers have come back to haunt the city.

The officer, Capt. Mark Kruger, threatened to sue the city last year over texts sent by a top police official to an officer characterizing him as a Nazi sympathizer. WASHINGTON (AP) — The State Department has endorsed the broad conclusions of a harshly critical Senate report on the CIA’s interrogation and detention practices after the 9/11 attacks, a report that accuses the agency of brutally treating terror suspects and misleading Congress, according to a White House document.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Racing against time, members of a Japanese organization are combing a New York military museum’s World War II records for information they hope will lead to the graves of American servicemen still listed as missing in action on Saipan.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura got the legal vindication he craved when a jury agreed he had been defamed in slain military sniper Chris Kyle’s autobiography.

Ventura won another victory on Wednesday — a day after the jury voted 8-2 to award him more than $1.8 million — when “American Sniper” publisher HarperCollins told The Associated Press it would remove the passage that sparked the lawsuit from the best-seller.   Continue reading “Jesse Ventura’s image and legal battles not over”

I recently read an article, by a self proclaimed second amendment supporter, blasting open carriers again. I find myself sighing and trying to muddle through the article without getting angry, but it never fails to make me upset to see these articles. They are usually written by someone who is angry, ignorant, and often useless when it comes to actually defending rights. My two favorite lines people who hate open carry use are, “You are hurting the Second Amendment” and “Just because you can doesn’t mean you should”. Inevitably they will always use this in their argument.  Let’s take a closer look at these two assertions.

First of all the Second Amendment shouldn’t exist at all. WHAAA, HUHH??? Shocking I know, but if you have ever studied history you would know that many of our most liberty loving founding fathers actually hated the bill of rights. This may sound counter intuitive, but think about it for a second. The reason they opposed it is because they never wanted Americans to think that their rights were restricted to only what what in the bill of rights. 1. Powder your piggies. Your feet will sweat profusely during a road march. Damp feet blister easily. The best way to keep your feet comfortable and avoid excess blistering is to powder your feet before you start. Use Gold Bond, talc, corn starch, or any brand of commercial baby powder. Sprinkle powder on your bare feet, then put your socks on. Put a light coat of powder on the outside of your socks, and then dust the inside of your boots with a little more powder. Remember, lightly coat everything with powder – don’t dump the powder in big globs. A seven hour standoff between a SWAT team in Hayward, California–and what was eventually determined to be an empty residence–ended, when authorities realized the individual they thought may have sent a series of “suspicious notes” was not actually home.

The bomb squad, including snipers and their bomb-sniffing K9s, were called out after deputies from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office discovered a series of incendiary notes which indicated there were explosives inside of the home they were attempting to deliver eviction notices to, according to a report by KTVU. Wendy’s Co., the third-biggest U.S. fast-food hamburger chain, is leaving the Russian market after three years, after a change in the local franchisee’s management.

The country’s eight Wendy’s outlets are being shut down, Bob Bertini, a spokesman for Dublin, Ohio-based Wendy’s said by e-mail. Wenrus Restaurant Group, a former unit of Moscow-based Food Service Capital, agreed in 2010 to open 180 restaurants under the format across Russia within a decade. MEXICO CITY (AP) — California Gov. Jerry Brown said Tuesday his state is willing to shelter more migrant children from Central America if needed but reiterated that the United States needs to find a long-term solution to the immigration crisis.

The United States issued a firm condemnation of the shelling of a United Nations school in Gaza that killed at least 16 Palestinians on Wednesday, but also confirmed it restocked Israel’s dwindling supplies of ammunition.

The White House expressed concern that thousands of civilians who had sought protection from the UN were at risk after the shelling of the girls’ elementary school. President Obama has always had a fondness for illegal immigrants. He is seemingly oblivious to the negative effects they have on our economy and our workforce, not to mention the drug cartels and gangs that illegal immigration brings into our country. He would rather spend millions on amnesty programs than defend our border.

While Americans in border states cry out for federal assistance, it looks like individual state militias are going to have to handle the problem on their own.
