Palisades Interstate Parkway Re-Open After Wild Police Chase with Shots Fired

SuperStation 95

The southbound Palisades Parkway in Alpine, NJ  has reopened after a wild police chase, where shots were allegedly fired at police.

It began on Route 3 near MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, where police attempted to pull over a vehicle.  The vehicle fled, taking the New Jersey Turnpike northbound toward the George Washington Bridge, then taking the Palisades Interstate Parkway (PIP) northbound toward the New York State Line.

While on the PIP, shots were allegedly fired at police from the fleeing vehicle.

At some point, the vehicle changed direction and proceeded southbound on the PIP and that’s where the chase ended, in Alpine, NJ.  The occupants of the vehicle fled into the woods on foot.

Police took two suspects into custody following a foot chase into the woods.

No injuries have been reported. Expect delays in the area.

Several law enforcement vehicles lined the southbound lanes during the investigation that ensued, with a number of officers in a nearby heavily wooded area
