Parkland teacher: ‘I assumed that it was a code red drill because they had told us earlier in the day that they were going to be having a code red drill using blanks’

PARKLAND, Fla. (INTELLIHUB) — Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School history teacher Ernest Rospierski told the Associated Press he thought the Valentine’s Day massacre was a drill at first and was warned earlier that day that a code red drill would be taking place in which blanks were to be used.

The brave teacher who saved a number of his students lives on 14 February, told the AP that his students and he were at the doorway in the west stairwell of the 1200 building and were all on their way out of the building when they heard gunfire. The teacher and his pupils were trying to exit the building after the fire bell rang just seconds earlier when they became engulfed in a real-time nightmare.

“I assumed that it was a code red drill because they had told us earlier in the day that they were going to be having a code red drill,” the teacher explained. “I assumed it was blanks.”

That’s when Rospierski acted quickly to get as many students as he could to go back into the rooms while the shooter continued his rampage at the east end of the hallway.

“I heard two shots,” he said. “Those two shots would have been my friend Scott Beigel who had been shot and killed trying to save his kids.”

At that point, the shooting briefly stopped while the shooter reloaded his AR-15 to continue on with his rampage.

Rospierski maintains, at the time he didn’t know the purported suspect was a 19-year-old kid.

“I didn’t know that at the time because he had a mask on at the time so I didn’t know who it was,” he said. “I just saw a guy with a gun shooting at my kids.”

  1. Where is the video footage of this incident? Why has it not been released or even mentioned for that matter? Why all the distractions and charades.

It is well known that Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School has an extensive video surveillance system as do most government schools. Just asking….

    1. You beat me to it, Freedom.

ALL VIDEO FOOTAGE NEEDS TO BE RELEASED FOR PUBLIC REVIEW. TIME AND DATE STAMP “ERRORS” WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. RELEASE THE FOOTAGE NOW!

  2. I recall reading somewhere, that often these real-life attacks, coincide with a planned drill. Of course, the real attacks are on a much larger scale than a school shooting and requires someone planted on the inside to monitor and advise.

The advantage is, of course, that planning an attack to coincide with a drill maximizes the time in which to carry out the attack, doing the most damage, before it’s recognized as the real thing.
