Profiting From Homelessness: Multnomah County, OR To Build Tiny Houses In Residents Backyard At Inflated Cost

World Events and the Bible

WEB Notes: Ensure you visit the source and look at the so called “houses”. This idea is from the third world. Homeowners are going to live in their nice homes and watch a poor family enter their backyard each day to enter their box of a home? You will have guilt and shame on both sides of this and create horrible division. If they want to create an apartment complex they should do that, but not try to mix the two here.

The whole purpose behind this tiny house idea is due to property being so expensive. The article goes on to say each of these tiny houses are 200 square feet in size and will cost $75,000 each! Alarm bells should be going off. A quick look at real estate costs in Multnomah County, Oregon reveals the average per square foot cost is $277. Yet, these tiny houses cost $375 a square foot. Someone is pulling a fast one on the people. We built a chicken house nearly this size for next to nothing.

With more than $300,000 and volunteer homeowners, Multnomah County has a new idea to fight homelessness: Build tiny houses in people’s backyards and rent them out to families with children now living on the street.

The homeowners would pay nothing for the construction. They would become landlords and maintain the units for homeless families for five years. Then the tiny houses would become theirs to do with what they want. If the homeowners break the contract before then, they pay the cost of construction.

Four tiny houses are tentatively scheduled to launch this June at $75,000 apiece, with the hope for up to 300 accessory dwelling units as they’re known in the next year if the first ones work out.

  1. This “tiny home” bullshit has to go. It is hiding inflation, coupled with non-ownership of property.
If we the people stand for this, then we have it coming. I for one, am going to fight tooth and nail to keep my 2/3 acre. There is nowhere that I’d even find a rental under $1000/month.

    1. YOU CAN ALWAYS MOVE HERE MY FRIEND IN THE SOUTH IN AL. FOR ABOUT 300/ MONTH, BUT YA GOTTA LEARN ENGLISH. WE LOVE YALL, WE WANT HONEST LAW. IT STARTS AT THE BILL OF RIGHTS. COME SEE US, YA HEAR????????????????????
